RE: 69 Beaumont 454 Build Underway

Les, looks like that came together pretty nicely. What was the cam choice and pistons used?

 Hi Eric;

Took quite a while for build, guy's way to busy for 1 man shop.

He used SRP forged 23 cc dome pistons, worked well with porting for volume. heads machined for solid quench.

Arrived at 9.7:1 SCR. Cam is custom grind by Bullet,  that is sort of confidential ( cam guys are very protective of their numbers)

, Hyd Roller 600 Int/ 570 Exh lift  229 Int/ 241 ext @050. LSA 109. Went for reasonable lift and low overlap and duration, good vacuum and idle.

For EFI to perform properly, demands at least 9 inches Vac, I was looking for at least about 14-16.

Hope for everything to play out as planned. Should be fun car. Came from Regina BTW......you may have seen it around.

Les

Be curious to know final tally when done if you don't mind. You can PM if you'd like.

Brian

It's over budget, I did some research, pretty much knew what I wanted for an engine.

What developed were some expensive decisions, like EFI Alum Rad and other high end parts ,

things tend to double in price etc, etc. The engine came in at the quoted price, but all the other extras going from SBC

to BBC cost more. Wasn't able to harvest much from SBC. I'd be glad to give you a final cost and

what I went thru to get things done. I 'm new to this but now know every inch of my car.

W/O a garage and access to what a veteran hot rodder does daily, I have learned a ton and have

had lots of help and suggestions. The guys at the shop doing the install have been great, they encourage me to hang around

and see what is being done.

We have rectified the garage situation, wife's retiring, we're headed to the country.

More of the pics from Sandale Facebook page:

Car is almost ready to go, rad and fans in wired for cpu control,  pulleys and belts done, brake booster in , converter and trans cooler in

Exhaust hooked up fabrication done, solid from front to back 3" magnaflow stainless.  EFI gas tank and electric in tank pump working, lines good , no leaks.

Engine is running, at idle and sitting but not road tested for EFI learning. All plumbing for fuel delivery done and solid.

Throttle is crisp and responsive, sounds great.....350 fender emblems won't fool anyone.

Rear suspension is in LC arms and sway bar from UMI, ordered BB springs for front

headers are going to hit with SBC springs, more stuff for Mark.

Should be in my hands middle of  next week.

The transplant work is awesome by these guys at Sandale, Pudge444's cousin apparently,  all wiring, ECU and MSD box out of the way and hidden,

very clean and functional. Looking forward to putting some miles on her. Thanks for watching and commenting.
