Kind of a sleeper with that brown paint and vinyl top!

This 1971 Pontiac Firebird Formula 455 H.O. 4 speed ( M-22 transmission with whine) is in good driver condition, It is original with exception of a MSD ignition. Car is Canyon Copper with dark brown cordova top and sienna custom interior. I have PHS documenttation, this is a real 455 h.o car with matching #'s.

AC with the 455 HO has to be kind of rare

I love everything about that car. I can't comment on the asking price because it is such a unique car.

I seem to recall that this car came out of the south west USA which might explain A/C and colour choices.

That car was a factory sleeper when new. Brown,vinyl top, wouldn't expect it to be packing a 455HO with a RockCrusher behind it.

I've always liked the twin hood scoops on those cars.  I bet it gets up and goes.

Some Firebird Formula cars had the Ram Air...I too would have thought, this 455 HO might have the option.

 

BTW - I have one of those fibreglass scoop hoods with the underside Ram Air metal flapper, off a 1974 Firebird

Formula big block vehicle.

- Motor was earlier sold, but my purchase did come with the original dual snorkel air cleaner.

(identical & correct, even on the 1971 GTO Judge)

Muffler bearing is going out - extremely hard to find a replacement part

 It's gone BACK to America.......Dennis Jensen in Michigan bought it.

 Him and his brother Dan were the founders/organizers of the Pure Stock Drags..

He will have this HO in the 12's in short order.....looking exactly as it does in the pics...on factory (skinny) rubber.

As I recall,it was brought into Canada by the previous owner...

Personally,it wouldn't be my choice of colors....BUT......it has ALL the OTHER good stuff....

There were two Formula hoods produced back then. One had the functional scoops for Ram-Air , the other was blocked off for Formula cars without Ram-Air. My 70 Firebird had the functional one. The air cleaner also had a plate with a thick foam gasket that mated with the underside hood openings.
