I have a 71 455, The casting is 485428, coded YC, date code is D131

So 71 455 325hp cast April 13th 1971 right?

how do I read the partial vin which is 212345928? What did this come out of?

You have done about as much as you can as far as i.d'ing the engine. The only thing I could possibly add is that the 3rd digit on the partial v.i.n., if it is a "2" would indicate St. Therese, the Quebec assembly plant, or possibly "Z" which would be Freemont California.  In either case that would indicate a full-size car since St Therese was cranking out big cars as was Freemont. I am NOT 100% certain on that though.

Thanks. Definitely a 2.

What I found says St Therese made Chevy big cars in 1971. It's on the internet, must be true....

First St. Therese 455 I've ever heard about.
