Does anyone know the option code for a reverb?

I'm searching high and low but can't find the option code for a reverb in my GP. Does anyone have documents for their Canadian GM vehicle that shows the option code for a reverb? I am betting it starts with "U" like the radio and speaker options, but just can't seem to find it.

Thanks Carl but I'm looking for the code on the Canadian side. The US cars had that 3 digit code, we had a letter and 2 digits.

I'm sure I've seen GM of Canada documents on here that show it but I just can't find it.

Pete, I think that refers to the later option. The reverb should not be listed as "stereo" but as reverb or reverberator or Verbraphonic I think.

U80 is rear speaker. Reverb came out in '67. I have the codes but will have to dig them out

Reverb came out in 64 I believe.....the code for a 65 Olds reverb is      U84 -Rear Package Tray Speaker (Reverb) (FSC)

By 1967 Reverb was on it's way out.Reverb would only work with an AM radio and was not workable with a stereo radio.

I bought a reverb from the Tin Man earlier this year,I believe he said it was from a 64 Pontiac....don't think Chevy offered it as an option.

That would be great if you can find it.

The reverb was out in the US in at least 64 on Pontiacs if not sooner. I have seen them in 64 Canadian cars as well and was sure they were factory installed. You are saying there was no reverb in a Pontiac in Canada until 67?

Thanks Greaser, that's a good start. Now I have to just make sure Pontiac used the same code.

Maybe U84 is code for reverb, cause U80 is single rear seat speaker, U81 is dual speakers. I believe when you ordered reverb you automatically got rear seat speaker as part of the package.

Yes, the reverb switch has F-REVERB-R on it for "Front" or "Reverb" or "Rear". The choice is front or rear regular, or both with reverb. A guy can't have both speakers on without the reverb on, although some rewiring would make it work that front and rear could be on without reverb.

I'm still digging to prove U84 is also used on Pontiacs, but I suspect it will be.

I removed a reverb setup from a black '64 Impala in '04ish... That's when I started with the E-Bay craze... got a good coin for it..

I don't think there is a rpo code for reverb, as it was not a regular production option but a dealer installed option.

You may well be right but I'm not ready to give up yet. I was sure I had seen some documents from GM Vintage showing it factory installed.

More research, shows the Verbra-phonic part #984849 group 9.650 is factory not dealer installed, is what everyone is calling a reverb. So ya, U84 makes sense to me as option code.

....click here , it shows the 65 olds as U84.....442restoration.homestead.com/AccCiphers.html

also in other post we were talking about A51, well here it says A50 for buckets and A51 for the strato bucket seat. I have a 65 and 66 Buick Wildcats out back with reverbs, just wonder if the build sheet is hidden someplace in those cars ??

On another place I found it said pontiac verba phonic code " V " .

I'd be pulling those, moisture not good for them. Most build sheets in the canadian cars are hog ringed under the back seat, long narrow white strip of paper.

My switch from the 64 Pontiac reverb has ( OFF - REVERB - R ) , that tells me that the Front is always on, leaving a choice of Reverb on, Rear On without Reverb, or no Rear at all and only Front.

I did a Google Custom Search at the bottom off our site page with "Reverb"...lots of stuff discussed in the past.

Switch like mine.

Whoops, I was going by memory, I think you are right about it being "off" on the left side.

The unit I got from Tin Man was complete with all the factory wiring going from the radio, the switch, right to the rear speaker.

If memory serves me right,I think he also has other complete reverb units for other Pontiac years in stock. I believe some were all part of

a massive lot of Pontiac parts he purchased. http://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/mobile.spark?p=topic&topic=53791881
