1954 Star Chief Convertible

One of my Dad's friends just put his convertible up for sale. Thought I'd share the picture since it's such a beautiful car. I'm not putting it in the "For Sale" section because I'm not trying to sell it for him, just share the picture.

biggrin

Is it just my imagination, or has that 54 been lowered? Sweet looking Star Chief ride.

Not sure. I got a forwarded message saying it was a 5.3 lt engine with overdrive, and they would like $42,000 for it. I've got a name and phone number if anyone has deep pockets and needs a new ride. biggrin

I don't personally know them, though. I don't feel comfortable posting a "car for sale" ad for someone I don't know, but I enjoy sharing the info with members.

Not really up on my fifties cars. Not sure, even, what a 5.3 litre is. no

I'm still firmly stuck in cubic inches. Don't know what came stock in a 54.

5.3, i am going to guess 305 Chev V-8 or 307 Chev V-8. That is a heck of a........... s**t load of money for that car. Especially in today's times, selling an oldie today is like letting your wife agree to you going away with a bunch of single buddies. To drink, party and hang around with a bunch of young chicks. Not happening. Cheers. George.

I would have thought so a couple months back, as well. What I've been seeing the last little while has just blown me right out of my space boots.

Last month a fellow in the hood paid 18 Gs for a 65 bench seat 283 Impala 2dr hardtop, in pretty nice shape, but not pristine.

Earlier this year a guy bought a neighbour's 69 Cutlass 2dr hardtop for almost 11 Gs, with an old, tired 350 and a bench seat.

Another fellow I met paid 19 Gs for a late sixties 442 hardtop that needed the motor and tranny rebuilt.

I could tell you of others, but you wouldn't believe me. Guys paying close to 50 Gs for sixties cars full of bondo. At this point anything is possible. There are no guidelines any more. The people that have the loot just don't seem to care.

5.3 LT or LS? 5.3 is essentially a 327 in liter speak (323cubic inches actually).

It sure is a pretty car thou.
