Well you could be. My next door neighbor is selling his house. It's quite the place. He custom built it about 5 years ago. It's about 5000 square feet with a large 2 level garage (the upper level was being used as a library). It's tucked in 6 acres of woods with a river at the back of the property. The agent has posted it on Kijiji:
It's a lot of house/property for $249900. Property taxes are cheap here too. We're in a great area of PEI and only 8 minutes to the ferry to NS. The town of Montague is 20 minutes away, Charlottetown 45.
The possibilities are endless with this special property! With 4 bedrooms and 2 distinct living areas, it could be a B&B, artist retreat, or family home with in-law suite/rental. The welcoming grand foyer has cathedral ceilings and a chandelier. The living room is gorgeous with walnut floors, Napoleon wood-burning fireplace and Tiffany-style light fixtures. Off the living room, there’s the media room, heated solarium, and indoor resistance swimming pool. Two large bedrooms access the main bath, and a third bedroom/office is just across the hall. Across the pedway is the large studio over the heated double garage. The front portion of the house has a living room with Rumford fireplace, bedroom, full bath and kitchen. The complex is heated by a Portage&Main outdoor wood furnace, plus an independently running oil heating system. The 6-acre property is treed, private and secluded. The list price of this property is just a fraction of what it would cost to build!
Well, if you live in GTA or Vancouver (or Fort Mac) and are living a stressful rat race type of existence, sell your place and use all that equity to buy this house outright, go into semi-retirement and live happily ever after. We'll import cars from the west (big demand for cars that aren't rotted here), sell them and be rich. RICH I SAY! (insert evil laugh here). There's several hundred feet of woods between this house and mine.
22,000 sq ft, 11bdrm, 7bathroom, 3living room, 2kitchen, library, indoor pool, fish ponds, reflecting ponds, running paths, plus had a 2200 sq ft recording studio/guest house used by rolling stones, beachboys, Paul anka the who who of music, on 30acres. Wife said "no". I would have kept it as a international recording studio/ bed and breakfast.

I think i am going to be sick. You can not even buy a 2' X 2' crappy condo for that, in the GTA (Greater Toronto area). Todd, it all makes sense, you moving out there.

Just a curiosity question Todd, if that property was to be rented out what kind of dollars would a person be paying? I am thinking with property being very reasonable there may not be as many people looking for places to rent. That is a nice house to be on that property.
The property in Lynden Washington, Google "the Bachman estate", then images, first image click open the page will tell ya a bit of the place. And yes I'm still married to her, she feeds me.
WoW, looks vacant, might get on the cheap, as if it's not already. Couldn't buy the windows and doors out west for that price. Might be the only way I can retire, unless you could transport house and garage to 100 mile for cheap. Got me thinking Todd, any good truck driving jobs?
Jerel, I have no idea what rent would be on a house that size. A "typical" house here fetches between 8-1200 a month. The house is vacant. The owner also owned our property. He built the big house for him and his wife and then also bought the property we now own for his wife to create her dream gardens. She passed away about 3 or 4 years ago. He has since remarried and they decided to live at his new wifes property (which is lakefront on 65 acres!)
The house was originally listed for $329 this Spring. He's taking a huge hit on it at this price.
Hawkeye, I know there are truck driving jobs on the island but I don't know what they pay. I'm sure they pay quite a bit less than similar jobs out west.
Todd I think Hawk will buy that outta his chump change. He just wants a job to get
outta the house once in a while, till he winters bk on the island.

I say someone buy it and put a huge ass "Home of Canadian Poncho" billboard size sign on front of the garage...just to watch Todd's expression as he drives by..what the!.... lol
I talked to my neighbor this morning. He has dropped the price to $219000! That's an absolute steal for this property! My wife and I tossed around the idea of renting our place and buying it. I love the garage. The second level would make a great Canadian Poncho library/man cave!
