New member from BC

Hi there, I am a new member from Princeton BC.  I ended up here because through a multi car trade I acquired a 1962 Pontiac Strato Chief. It has the tiny 194 six cylinder engine.  It has a split exhaust and sounds really cool.  I will have questions on interior, and some electrical and dash things.

Here are a few photos

Thanks, ya the 194 is a 1962 engine, so i wondered if it could be the original engine. Would they have ever put a 194 into that car when it was made?

Welcome here. I blew up your photos for us to enjoy.

I think you'll find there's a number of guys here who will be able to help you with questions about your car. (Which looks VERY cool, by the way!)

Welcome to Canadianponcho, Juho! Your 62 looks quite nice. I am surprised to see a puny 194 under the hood as the 62s were still running the 261 sixes for the final time.

Hey, I've got a six that would work beautifully under that hood; its a custom built 296 cubic inch stroker six based on a combination of 250 & 292 parts plus some custom made stuff. I even have the split cast iron headers like your car has. It hasn't been on a dyno but I'll bet it produces about 275 horses, but more importantly it was built for torque.

Welcome from a fellow 62 owner. Good looking find. I believe the 261 was the only 6 cyl. engine available in 62. I also had a 194 in my 63 Nova. It was a good little engine but that is a lot more of a car for it to push around.

Thanks for the welcomes and kind words about the car. I havent driven the car yet, do not sure how the 194 performs. It just showed up today and has a few issues (mostly electrical) before becoming roadworthy. Being that it sounds like the 194 was never offered in this car I may look to swap it out, but will definitely stick with a 6 as that's how she came.
