Gotta love Track & Traffic Canada for this kind of road test. Wheelspin News was another Canadian publication with road tests that could have featured these exclusive Canadian models, but Wheelspin News was only in a newspaper format. I had tons of them until I got married & moved out in the mid-80s. I discovered, to my chagrin, that mom had cleared out my room and thrown out tons of stuff (many vintage models, all my Wheelspin News, National Lampoon and my girly magazines). With help she even cleared my old original cans of touch-up paint from the 1960s. It was disappointing but I let it slide. My mom is a sweetheart despite that one incident.
Across and over one from us back in the 1960s, those neighbors owned a 68 Meteor Rideau 500 fastback while the daughter and son-in-law would visit from Orillia in a black 1967 Grande Parisienne coupe just like the one on the cover of the 67 brochure. Personally I always thought the slotted front turn signals and hidden headlights of the 67 were cool, along with the lovely concave back window.

Ya know even as a major 66 fan I'd actually have to give the nod to the 67's as the ultimate road kings of Canadian Pontiacs simply because of the availability of front discs/cw the rally wheels. If this car had that stuff along with the really great stuff it already had it would be the single best road swallower Canadian GM ever put out. (mind you I'd have gone for a more aggressive rear end ratio myself- at least a 3.08)
I hope it still exists and I fantasize about getting my hands on it someday.
I wonder how many were built like that and moreover I also wonder why the lesser - if I can use that term-1966 427 option was rated at 390 hp and the 1967 option was rated at 385 hp. Why the difference?
Love the ad but dislike the opening sentence.... It's Oshawa iron and not Detroit iron.... I know, I know.... Picky.... BUT!!! It is a Grande after all.. (lol)
The review was written in February 1967. I have no recollection of Oshawa vs. Detroit iron however to a sports car magazine tester this is a big hunk of Detroit iron that just happened to totally surprise him in its performance, which was impressive in 1967.
I could not help but laugh watching the Dodge Daytona video. The guy is driving that beast like it is a road course car, on those bias ply skinny tires. It is amazing he never slid off the road.

Love the article, great history. I also am of the opinion different than the author and love the look of the 67's, front and back! Growing up in across the St. Clair River in MI and visiting Sarnia and Wallaceburg , always noticed the differences in the Canadian Pontiacs and Mercurys and couldn't wait to get one someday. As a kid, always wanted a 67 Grand Prix Convert but since learning more about this CP thing, the dream has moved to a 67 Grande Convert (cash flow issue). That being said, very happy having my 68 2+2 Convert for 10 years now, thinking of adding GP Hideaways because I love the look.
Yes, need to show my Mopar buddy's that video, my knuckles were white watching that cornering.
Great Stuff, as commented on other posts, the knowledge and passion by this crew is awesome!
