Ah Supertest! There was one a couple of blocks from my house back in the day. Supertest disappeared around 73/74 after being bought by BP. Well BP disappeared in 1975 after the creation of Trudeau's baby, Petro-Canada, or as I liked to say, Pierre Elliot Trudeau Rips Off Canada.

The Supertest station near my house, like so many local garages back then, was a hangout for gearheads. The owner and his mechanics had two really nice early Corvettes, a hot, modified 56 with a 1970 LT1 & 4-speed swapped in and some 4-series gears, a basically stock, show-winning 57 with a 283 dual quad, solid lifter 270-horse & a factory 3-speed with beautiful black lacquer paint and really well done pinstriping by Kenny Kay. The owner had an immaculate 1970 Challenger RT/SE Hemi that he bought new and drove only in perfect weather. Check the Canadian Hemi registry and you will see it as being registered new to an owner in Ancaster; that's the car. Heck, he kept it like new but when I saw it the car was only 3 to 4 years old. I also watched him pull out of the station onto the main street beside a locally owned 1968 Corvette 427 tripower and they let it rip!

Yes, Supertest brings back memories. I think on Victoria Park in Scarborough back in the 60s there was a Superstest station owned by George Massicote,; he ran a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL with a 427 dual quad and could be seen tinkering with it back in the day. His son still owns the car today and it is restored.

That was at Elvaston and VP, I lived in the apartment (1600) next to the Supertest........the car was called "George's Ford"
and we used to see it at all the local drag strips inc Niagara.

Used to hear him tuning it about a block away .....that was summer 65 and there were a lot of hot Ford S/SS 's in
Toronto including Donway on Eglinton and Pigott on Yonge.......a friend used to drive the Eastgate Ford out of
Hamilton........all these cars were 64 Galaxies and hot runners in Super Stock........
