I stopped in at a friend's shop this weekend and am thinking of getting him to build a front end for my Canso. It gives me a few more options even the width of the front end depending on what kind of rims I want to run on it. I like the way he incorporates the inner fender into a structural piece of the front end. I see many of them with a couple tubes coming down from the top. Inners are made out of aluminum and he would build in a rad support out of aluminum at the same time. I am shooting for this as a spring time project. I have a picture of one that he has already done for another guy.

That is one nice piece. What cross member/ suspension in it, are you going SB, BB , or LS?
Leaning towards small block. I have a nice little 283 but have been snooping for a 327. I am a cruiser so don't need much. This summer was a good test for me having those LS cars to drive. Just not willing to spend a pile of money on it, front end will be enough but should make it a good driver. I am planning to go to Pleasanton in August for the Good Guys show but won't make it with the Canso yet.
Sounds like a good choice. The LS conversion is a lot of time if you don't want to spend a lot of money, everything is different and I mean everything. Does get the old brain working though. Was having second thoughts on the LS but since I didn't have the orig block I thought what the heck. That will be one nice front clip when you get it. Think being all one piece will add a lot of stability to the car.
You guys need to be talking to a CP guy in Manitoba who has a couple of those early Nova blocks for sale. He has 2 that are the thick castings that can be bored to 4" to make 327's.....

Now ya tell me. I'm in too deep now! Guess we could have shipped them to the Island with the hoods. Have those hoods cleared customs at the Alb/BC border yet?
