Anyone know a source for proper Glovebox repro?

I ordered the supposed 'correct' one for '49-'50 from Car and Truck Shop but it's not even close- not wide enough and doesn't have a 'step up' inside (not sure why it's needed anyway as heater motor isn't there?).

It looks like the ones on National Chevy Assoc. are the same as another forum member found out.

Anyone found a correct reproduction? Originals also have clips for documents on the upper surface which I guess could be transferred from the old one.

It looks like you could fab one up from art board but the staples would be hard to duplicate.

I went looking a few years ago and found a small plant just north of Hershey, PA that was reproing a complete line of glove boxes.
I may have their address somewhere if no one else chimes in.

That might be helpful Norontcan. Thanks for the other leads guys but none of them have panned out so far.

Here's what it looks like. The hole in the top must be for an optional light?

Think that was me your referring to, I ended up ordering 2 G/boxes from National, & making my own out of 2. I didn't think the Cdn. Pontiac G/box would be 'that" different from a Chevy But I was 'wrong" there, "Big" time!!!!   Pete

24pete - I too went thru quite a lot trying to find the right one for my 65 Parisienne CS.
I was able to deal direct with the manufacturer.
First I ordered 65 Chev - wrong ( my mistake )
Then I ordered 65 Bonneville no A/C - they sent with air. It fit but wasn't large enough to hide my modern CD player. ( their mistake )
Finally got the correct one - since they had substituted and it was across an int'l border they sent the correct one no charge and I still have the one with A/C stashed away. Fit of the 65 Bonneville no A/C was bang on. Undo a few screws remove old one, install new one - easy plus.

For my 64 Beaumont SD I found a new one at a flea market. It's marked for a few years of GTOs. But manufactured by the same people. I've checked the fit its bang on.

The manufacturer is:
R E M Automotive
20 Landings Drive
Annville, PA
17003-8879
phone 717-838-4242
www.remautoinc.com

Don't know if they will still deal direct as their site mentions contacting a retailer ( a list of which is provided ).

Didn't check if NOS is on the list.

So if anyone needs a 65/66 Chevy box or a 65/66 Bonneville with A/C box let me know as I have them for sale.

In an earlier post I mentioned I remembered them as being north of Hershey, PA. Don't know they might have moved but are now just east of Hershey, PA.

Hey Murray
Sorry If I am late in responding, however, I happen to have a good glove box that has the step side, for my 1950 Pontiac. It is out of my dash right now so if you need a Template, I could take some pics and measurements, if that is any help.
Regards
Dale

Thanks for all the posts guys. I brought one home from Car&Truck Shop that was fitment for my '54 Chev 3100 P.U.
Even went with the deluxe 'felt' lined version-NOT!! It's close but still not right!
The one you show 427Carl is the correct one, and I still have mine for a pattern if need be. Thanks.
To be continued...............!
On another note- DON"T think the Cdn. 3 on the tree shift levers are the same as US! I ordered 2 spring kits thinking my '54 US p.u. was the same. Went ahead and tried to rebuild the '50 SD unit and the rubber 'bushing' provided will not fit down into the shift lever. It appears the '50 doesn't have/ require such part, but the rest of the rebuild kit works. When I did the '54 p.u. the bushing fits fine- and it makes a world of difference on the shift performance- no more slop in the lever and less linkage 'lock-ups'.
