My 68 Beaumont resto on a budget

Hey all thought I would start a thread to share the work on my 68  I'm about 5 weeks in since i got the car .new fenders are on with inners , sadly one fender is damaged so I have a three week wait for the replacement , new doors are now on and all glass is back in , the new rear quarters and inners for the rear just arrived , still looking for a body shop to install those , as much as I have the room 5 bay shop and welder ect , it a bit to much intimidation for me to take on alone , without guidance , in the past few weeks I have acquired a bunch of parts . new trunk lid ,carpet ,underlay , headliner , package tray , front and rear bumpers , full weather stripping ,plus all the rest of the for mentioned body parts , the only thing I'm reusing is the hood ( sadly not a big block hood ) and the roof . My plan is to get the quarters done and get the car in primer for this summer and then next spring add the color , car was originally green , I'm not a fan of that color , so at the moment , I'm thinking tripoli saphire blue

this is what the car looked like the night I picked it up , take note of the shaved door handles , mirror , and all marker lights image.jpg

Good work, keep on going, these type of threads can be very inspirational. Good to show that most of our cars are not perfect, at least not to start with and shouldn't diminish the experience!

Are you putting it together and then painting it ?    or just fitting the parts and then dis-mantling for paint

Putting it together to drive for a summer in primer , then next fall / winter will get a color picked out and then painted , thinking tripoli blue , or dark green , but the budget is only allowing to get to primer stage this winter .....hell I just want to drive it 😀

Sounds great !     will the primer stand the wear and tear   water? etc      will you take it apart next winter  for paint   (trim)

I'm thinking everything will have to be resanded before paint and I already see a few spots that will require a bit of attention

Car was originally light green , it kinda reminds me of the early 70 darts And swingers colors , was never a fan , just kinda on the fence right now on weather to install the fiber optics

Looks like we have a good representation of 68 Beaumonts here in Kelowna with you two.

image.jpgLots of progress , car is assembled , final got to drive it ......good god , it's quick , gets a wicked 2nd gear , the guy speculated that it was a 390 hp 396 , kinda figured he was blowing smoke ... But I've driven a lot of high performance cars and have to say this is no slouch . no suprises after the drive other than at one point car would not turn over , I'm contributing to Either a finikey starter or maybe overheated starter ... at this point you could not smack the smile off my face
