I've NEVER seen this before tonight-65 Acadian Canso GM TV spot

I can't believe this was out there and I've never seen it. I've done 65 Acadian stuff since 1974, but just saw this now.

I want to see if anyone else spots the 2 things "wrong" with the car in the ad. If you spot them, just say "Yes, I found them" please, don't reveal them. I want to see how well people know their 65 Canso SD cars.

One's real obvious, one is a bit on the subtle side. You need to be a lot sharper for the other one, and know your 65 SD's pretty well.

Keeping in mind the car was probably hurried up for the commercial shoot I can see three things that are off imo.

Yes, I'm betting it's a pretty low serial number on that car!

73SC has one of them nailed, he's hot on the trail of the other one!

Islander, if you get a chance, PM me with what you have spotted.

I noticed three things.

Indian got one of them. He also caught a mistake in the narration, at least it would be in error for the car shown.

Ray also busted them on a visual "change" that would not be correct on a production car. He pointed out something is missing.

Lots of "oopsies" on this TV ad!

Ray and Indian caught one error on the car that is visual. They both caught the same error. There's still another one though that is a bit tougher to spot unless you really know Acadians.

Hawkeye lives up to his name!

-Wheel covers are Chevrolet covers

-Console has an SS emblem (65 Nova SS console)

-Ray was first to catch they mentioned 6 passengers, others have caught it too. He also pointed out there's no spare tire in there! He mentioned no mirror on the outside but I think that was an option/accessory in 65.

- The dash emblem has been questioned. It should be on the glove box door and after many views, I think I can see it. What lousy video quality!

-Trunk trim is in question. Tough to see if it says ACADIAN and tough to see if there is a SPORT DELUXE on the right side of the upper trunk trim.

-At least it IS a real Acadian interior shot though, at least the cluster is the unique Acadian cluster.

The ad refers to "many Acadian models" available   not a SD    so would not a 6 pass bench seat car be available?

Yes, but I think the guys point in mentioning it is that they only show a 5 passenger vehicle the whole time. Technically though you would be right. The majority of 65 Cansos sold would be 6.

I wish the ad was colour. I'm betting it's the tuquoise interior (because you can see the two tone steering wheel). I bet it's a visual identical twin to my nephew's 65 SD, other than his is a 283 car and this is a 6, according to the emblem being absent on the fender.

I do think the narration is representative of the entire line of cars so some of those thing said apply to other models. It's probably a Nova guised up a bit for the shoot.

I pondered that a bit too Ray. However, I don't think so. It has too much unique Acadian stuff.

Cluster

Upper body trim

Lower body trim

Rear trim (most of it!) including tailights and rear bumper with backup lights.

Grilles

Clear signal lenses

It just seems odd that they wouldn't have had proper wheel covers and console for it.

The narrator says that he has "6 in the family" that doesn't equate to 6 passengers. He could actually have 10 in his family, and the car would only hold 5 or 6.

Actually, even if there was 6 people in the car, it would be 5 passengers and 1 driver.

Maybe a little, but mostly it's just that I've had an interest in these cars since I bought my first 65 Canso SD in March 1974, and I've owned a 65 SD for all but about 5 years since then. A guy just can't put that kind of influence in his life behind him!

I miss pretty much all the cars I've owned at one point or another!

It's residing in Whitehorse. I emailed the buyer about a month ago and got this back:

"Drove the Acadian a fair bit (on the sunny days!). It's just fine so no worries on that score, just like you sold it other than the rebuilt tranny (works great) and the stereo (hidden, no cutting). Oh yeah, bought some new rear tires, too."

I had told him the Muncie had a weird issue, would shift up perfect but would not go from 3rd to 2nd without first attempting to put it from 3rd to 1st, then to 2nd. He had someone check it out and it had a broken syncro apparently.

Wonder why it needed new rear tires? LOL!

I would also say the horn ring center cap is Chevy ll, if you look close it doesn't look like a maple leaf or was there just an A in 65?
