1963 Pontiac Parisienne, 2 doors with 409, restoration progress

I have tried to add more photos as this restoration is progressing but these are from the restoration shop site and they are these virtual 360 photos and cannot transfer them to the site here.

However if you go to: www.garageatelier2000.com and then click on the blue writing just below the photo of the orange coloured Mustang in the paint booth, it will open a number of past and current restorations. Scroll down to the Pontiac Parisienne 409 - 1963, you will be able to see several photos of the progress done and where the car is at right now. The chassis work is complete underneath andis painted body colour, the outside work is currently underway. There was a lot of rust inderneath and several pieces needed replacing, it should be on its frame shortly.

Yes, the car was purchased in Saint-Georges de Beauce, Quebec, with a 409 engine from manufacture. The original owner had the car for several years and still had it when he passed away in the 1970's. His widow sold it to someone in the Montreal region, then it went to Ontario and was purchased just a little over a year ago and has returned to where it came from. It is currently being restored to be like it was when new.

That's great Jean.  I talked to the Ontario owner 5 or 6 years ago when he had it up for sale.  He sent me a few photo's, and if I recall the original motor & tranny were in his possession but not in the car.  He mentioned the frame was a bit soft, so glad you're doing a full frame off restoration on the car.  It'll be a beauty when you're done.

I am not doing the car, it is owned by my best friend and we used to see this car daily then, we were around 12 years old then and the owner used to drive by where we lived and we used to tell him to step on it, and he would obliged.

I found the car for the current owner who is having the car restored, he also owns about 10 other collector cars. You are right the original engine was out of the car, it is being rebuilt as we speak and the 409/425 is out of it obviously and will likely be sold at some point.

The current owner simply wanted a car from his past and together we came up with the idea of finding this car, if it still existed, it took four years to find but it was well worth the wait.

I restore cars as well but only Austin-Healeys, I would not know where to start with one of these.

Outstanding! Perhaps you could convince the owner to join Canadian Poncho. That would be a great feature car when it is finished.

Thanks very much Pontiax for putting the photos on the site, I did not know how to do it, I am not overly gifted when it comes to computers.

I will let him know, he knows about the site but his English is very limited and more so his lack of time as he runs a few companies. Nevertheless he is a real car enthusiast and loves to drive his cars.

The photos of before are the ones above where the car is painted a dark red, burgundy colour. The original colour will be back on the car and it is the same red as the latest photos, and the top will be white as original. Original wheels with hubcaps will be back on and the original engine is currently being rebuilt. The first owner had added fender mirrors and round fog lights but these will not be added to the car now.

Is there any original paperwork? What's the colour called? How did the rust look before it was cut out? I sold my '67 2+2 because of the rust, and I prefer the '65 body style, so I couldn't see spending a gazillion dollars to restore a 283 plain jane convert... Would you share how much this resto is going to cost? I'm looking at a variety of '65 Pontiacs, both 2+2 Catalina's and Bonnevilles and a Parisienne or two. But the shiny ones are not neccesarily the best value as they may be rusty like your '63. I would buy this pair, but $14k for two project cars to make one? But I really want a loaded car, and the color is certainly weird enuff!

1965 2+2 Convertible For Sale

1965 2+2 Package

Greetings! I have recently purchased a 1965 2+2 convertible, along with an unbelievable parts car. The package can be sold "as-is" or as a finished car.

First the 2+2: 1965, delivered to Alabama new and remained there until three years ago. LOADED. 338 horse 421, Turbo 400 trans, factory air COMFROTRON (super rare in any full-sized Pontiac), PS, PB, P seat, P trunk, P antenna, reverb, rear seat speaker, buckets and console. Car has been PHS'd and has SPEC for the paint code. The car is currently painted 1965 yucky teal color with black interior and top.

The interior is driver quality. In removing original weather strip to see the base color, I discovered the car to be a deep bronze copper color like a Chrysler Turbine Car. The color was not specified on the build sheet. The original 421 is long gone and a smoking 389 makes the car a somewhat driver. However, a complete, correct dated 1965 "YH" 421, 338 horse engine will be included with the car. The car has bondo in all side panels, but does not seem to have any real rust. The trunk floor is good. The pot metal chrome trim is pitted.

The person I got the car from had purchased a 1965 Catalina convertible parts car that had been wrecked in 1966 with just 17,000 miles on the speedometer! The car had been stored inside here in Minnesota for 30+ years! It is unbelievable! The car was hit above the front bumper and shoved the engine into the dash big time. The front end, engine-trans, dash pad and left door are long gone.

The right front floor is rusted from incorrect outside storage however the rest of the car is MINT, including the set of 8 bolt wheels with 2 original basis UniRoyal tires! Of course, the trick here is to remove the quarters and 8 bolts and install on the 2+2 or clip the car using the cowl section of the 2+2 and use the parts car rear section and frame. The trunk floor is already promised to my 66 2+2 convertible, so it will not go with the car.

Other parts that come with the package are as follows: a rust free front clip from California and a pair of rust free doors from Arizona. I bought the package to either resell or do and then resell. I am not a fan of 1965 models; I prefer just 64's and 66's.

This car is beyond rare and deserves a kick ass restoration. The 2+2 comes with a Minnesota title. The parts car does not have a title. I am open for offers to include cash and/or cool 64 or 66 trades. Cars are located in the Twin Cities area. Price for all of the above (2+2 does run and drive): $20,000 f.o.b. Minnesota. Please contact Les Kasten at 651-423-7358 evenings CST or email me. Thanks!

Optional Items

Correct 1965 MINT dash with Rally Gauges
Correct 1965 AM/FM Radio
Correct 1965 Tachometer with green line all the around tach face
Correct 4 speed changeover to include correct original shifter, tunnel piece, pedals drive shaft, bell housing, Z-bar, all remaining clutch pieces, console and correct long shaft Muncie 4 speed trans. Condition of parts unknown.

Price for all of the Optional items listed above: $5,000 f.o.b Minnesota. Note: These items are not for sale unless you purchase the entire 2+2 package.

This one is sold, and was too pricey, and curiously wasn't a 2+2...

Yes, the original bill of sale came with the car as well as a box full of other papers relating to this car. I do not own this Pontiac, it's is owned by a friend of mine who is having restored to its original condition. I will have to contact the restoration shop to find out the name of the colour, he told me last time I was there but cannot recall the name of it. There was lots of rust on the frame itself, this is why another frame in good condition was purchased. There was also a lot of previous rust repair done at the back of the car in the trunk area, this was all removed and replaced with new sheetmetal and I believe just behind the front wheels as well from my conversation with the restorer.
I did not enquire about the cost of the restoration but I would imagine that it will exceed the current value of this car. Keep in mind that this car has sentimental value for the owner from his younger days and that once completed it will be part of a collection of 12 other cars.

Sure, the cost will often exceed the value. Would it be possible to see the paperwork? Do you know if a Chevy was considered instead of a Pontiac? Much less rare of course!

I don't have the paperwork for the car, it is with the owner in Quebec. The car was purchased in 1963 in Saint-Georges de Beauce, Quebec, by Patrick Busque, the first owner. It was purchased at the Pontiac/Buick dealer J.W. Morin, since closed. Not sure if the original owner considered a Chevrolet instead of a Pontiac. From what I was told there were only eight 1963 Pontiac Parisienne that came with a 409 engine that year but that I have not verified. The original owner and his wife have since passed away but the car was well know as at the time Saint-Georges was a town of about 9000 people.
Both the current owner and myself knew Mr. Busque but we were kids at the time and his car was a daily driver but the car was always immaculately clean. There are still a good number of people that remember both the car and first owner in Saint-Georges and some even got rides in it. You have to remember that at that time, such car was rather rare in a small town, no one even had a Corvette until 1967 there. I recall an Austin-Healey and a Jaguar XK120 at that time, that was about as exotic as it got then.

I believe that the original engine puts out 381 hp but I am not sure of that, I know very little about these cars. I am a childhood friend of the current owner and found the car for him but I restore Austin-Healeys exclusively so I am not overly familiar with American cars. It took the better part of four years to locate as it went from Saint-Georges to Granby, Quebec, then from there to Ontario and purchased again by someone else in Ontario and finally I found this site and within 15 minutes of placing a lookout for it, found the car.
