70 Parisienne Convertible in Wreckers

I found a Pick your part style wreckers fairly close to my house and did a walk through yesterday, and found this car. It has to go as one piece and they want $700.00 firm for it. The top is keeping the snow out of the interior, but is a bit rough. The 350 emblems are gone, and the engine may be out of it. It was -20 yesterday and I wasn't really dressed for it so didn't loiter. The temp is supposed to be up around 0 for the next week, so I could go back for a better look if someone wants.

I thought I knew of every car of that type in AB, I guess not.  Interesting it has the 3 spoke steering wheel, I don't think I've seen one on a 70 Canadian Pontiac before.

At first glance I thought maybe the car was a Catalina as that steering wheel was an option on Catalina's, and the right side visor appears to have a mirror built into it.  However, it has Parisienne / Ventura door panels, and the emblem on the passenger side dash woodgrain as Parisienne's did.

Good plastic funnel in the back seat!!!! Got to be a bargain !!! Would say the engine is "OUT" by the rad shroud & hinges on frt.seat. Still a good price if not rotted out on bottom??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think only the 70 Parisienne had the rear quarter emblem.

As for 1970 Canadian Pontiac convertibles. both the Parisienne & 2+2 had rear quarter emblems.   For hardtops, sedans & station wagons, they all had the rear quarter emblems.

Another Parisienne Rag with no clock! Nice visor with mirror... (lol) BUT, would love that map mirror although the glass looks separated!! If they want to sell it, with most or all the wiring I would gladly pay if complete! I need a good donor Rag for the 2+2 I have here... definitely not this one... Lots of good parts though..

Trim tag. Sorry it's not super clear, but there werre no hood hinges, and my snow brush was holding it up. Wasn't feeling brave! :)

The turbo 400 is beside the car, but the engine is gone. Too much snow for me to look at the frame, but the hood is good. Front bumper seems good, and hood hinges are inside the car. I think there is $700.00 value here in parts.

Rear floor is rusted, and no keys to look in trunk.

I cleared the snow off the roof and it seems to be in great shape. No rips or holes, and the inside top pieces are nice too. No visible rust.

If I had a '70 (and lived in Alta.), I'd grab it ... no second thought.

I've never seen one of those passenger side visors before.  Also, all the convertibles I've seen have had vinyl covered visors, that one looks cloth covered with perforations.  I suspect it's from a later car (maybe that's what the wire if for, as the wire for the map light is hidden within the windshield trim).

Clint, Sure it's not original....looks exactly like the visor I had in my 85 Cadillac Seville, mirror looks to be from the Cadillac as well.

compare with pic of these visors for sale on ebay (pic of open mirror)

I see it has a map light in the mirror but I imagine the mirror glass will likely be like every other one you find, full of stains.

That's why I had an (lol) after "nice visor with mirror"... I knew it was much, much later visor... I've got 3 of those map lights in various vehicles... Quite familiar with them and they seem to be really rare in these parts..

What a sad shame, it will probably end up as scrap metal but lets all hope not.

Any indication of what engine it had originally, the air cleaner lid is obviously from a different vehicle??

In my younger days I scrapped many, many, vehicles for their engines and 1969-1970 300 H.P. 350's were one of my favorites
not counting the engines with wide valve covers of course!! This car with its T-400 reminds me of several 1970 only Canadian Pontiac B body's I scrapped with 350 2bbl's and T-400's. None of the 300 H.P. cars had T-400's, always T-350's and most of the 350 2bbl's were also T-350's. Just curious if this might have been a 2bbl. with a T-400.

I always just figured G.M might have been clearing excess T-400's as starting in 1971 the B body's started using long tail shaft transmissions but that was just a guess.

Thanks
Randy

It may still be there, just not in the yard itself. I did see it in the no trespassing part of the yard a few months ago. Bucks auto in Sherwood Park. On Clover Bar road. North of the Yellowhead.

Does Bucks still have anything that's earlier than 1980 in their self service area? It's been probably ten years since I was there. They were crushing stuff like madmen back then.
