RESULTS: 67 Beaumont 396SD at BJ-Scottsdale 2015 *CLONE*

Muscle car values roar back to life...........According to Hagerty, a collectible car insurer, muscle cars are now back to their 2008 peak for the first time since the recession. The company's "Muscle Car Index," which tracks 15 of the top muscle car models, is up nearly 50 percent over the past year, with much of that growth coming in the second half of 2014............. https://autos.yahoo.com/news/muscle-car-values-roar-back-170300392.html

Very nice '67 SD - anyone knows about its history ?

- always good to see some benchmark examples (this one, automatic transmission), clean 396 Beaumont's don''t come to auction, very often

^^^^ The B-J link says $47,300 totally usd for the '67 SD = $56,722 cdn hammer price + 10% (equals $62,394 Canadian)

- didn't think it would set a 1967 Sport Deluxe price record (non 4 speed) but still a respectful #, some new buyer should be pleased

(today's exchange rate, 1.00 CAD, = 0.833890 USD)

Description - For sale at auction: Lot #443 - Due to Tariffs placed on Chevrolet in 1967, Chevrolet could not export any of their models to Canada. So what do you do? Dress out a Chevelle with a Pontiac Grill, put a GTO dash in it, with Pontiac tail lights and custom tri-bar side trim and call it a Beaumont. Notice the car doesn't say Pontiac on it anywhere. If you have never seen one before that's expected, there are very few in the United States. This very rare and completely documented Beaumont has received a complete frame-off restoration to its original colors. This correct date coded NOM 396/350hp motor was upgraded to 396/375hp specs during the restoration. 35,000 original documented miles. This car drives even nicer than it looks. **TITLE IN TRANSIT**

Details
VIN7361771105198
Exterior ColorMAROON
Interior ColorBLACK
Cylinders8
Engine Size396
Transmission3-SPEED AUTOMATIC

EDIT - just seen "CLONE" in this thread title...your right, no mention of "model" in description / Custom made into Sport Deluxe ?

I'm 100% positive it's a clone or "re creation"

My Dad bid 18K on this car back in 2011 when it was offered on Ebay for the 1st time (2nd time in 2013). The owner was totally upfront and revealed that the donor body was previously a yellow 67 Malibu. I also remember the seller mentioning how difficult and costly it was to find the correct Canadian SD parts (notice the Custom model rear trim).

I imagine Barrett Jackson might be doing sum "back peddling" regarding this sale!  Yikes! disbelief

They won't care ... $6000.00 out of millions of $$$$$$ they are making. I imagine they have quite a few blunders during each auction. Their "take" far out weighs the risk.

1967 Pontiac Beaumont Sport Deluxe Big Block Tribute Car
Ebay Ended: Oct 12, 2013 , 3:35PM
Current bid:US $18,100.00
Reserve not met [ 14 bids ]

1967 Pontiac Beaumont SD Tribute Car
If you are looking for something a little different than the other guys car at the show ....you just found it.
Super shiny car that really stands out from all the other Camaro's-Chevelle's at your local car show.
Starting with a very solid car (old drag car) never in the snow...we built a very close replica of a a very rare Sport Deluxe Beaumont.
The body needed very little work-just basically straighten it out-no rust-underside was in amazing shape.
Interior is mostly new or very nice OEM
Drive train is a date code correct Big Block 396 bored .30 over....nice lumpy cam-400 turbo transmission hooked to a 12 bolt Posi traction rear end with a 3.73 Gear set.
Cast Iron exhaust manifolds into a new dual exhaust system with flow master mufflers-sounds great
Correct rally wheels with new GM trim rings with the correct center caps-wrapped with repop redline radial tires really complete the 60's look.
Still a 4 wheel drum car but brakes are redone on all four corners.
Lot's of detail and all the hard to find parts are here...The side Gills...The maple leafs-All Beaumont emblems...even the GM maple leaf keys
This car is just the way you would have checked the boxes in 1967 ..Big Block Power,Bucket Seats,Console,Floor Shift and an absolute head turner in Plum Mist Metallic with a new Black Vinyl Top
Rechromed Bumpers and all the stainless trim has been polished to a high gloss.
This car is ready to go ,to drive and enjoy....but get ready to answer the questions you are going to hear alot.....is that a Chevelle??...or Why does your Chevelle look so much different than mine.
Check out the pictures....This car has been gone thru top to bottom-Professionally built and it shows.
Anyone who has taken a car to this level knows what it costs...You could not build this car for what I'm selling it for.
Just think what the price would be if this were one of the original 451 SD Beaumont's built in 1967...Save some money and buy this one and still get all the looks.
If you have questions or need more pictures ...Let me know
Thanks For Looking

^^^^ Yikes, $62,394 Cdn for a tribute car.

- I wonder how much the real deal 1967 SD in mint condition, would fetch @ Barrett-Jackson auction, these days !!

Thanks Kyle for setting the record straight...probable a record sale price, for a Beaumont Sport Deluxe clone / recreation.

- wonder if the ownership/vin & cowl tag, still represent a Chevelle

Unfortunately ,....this isn't the first time for BJ attendees,.....nor will it be the last. A few big sales have been reversed over the years,...ie a ZL1 Camaro a few years ago,...but there of all places....it truly is buyer beware...

Like anything ,...do your homework.

Maybe BJ bases their information on what bullsh$t the seller wants to feed them (like that JFK Pontiac ambulance a few years back or the Buddy Holly car). BJ should maybe put more due diligence into the sale of lower price vehicles also. Face it, this Beaumont is a drop in the ocean to them, and buyer gets stung in the end.

Like it has been said, the buyer has to do their homework, or at least cutback on drinking while bidding!biggrin

If buyer was unaware car is a fake it will put uncertainty into the mindset of future purchasers on other Beaumont's that make there way state side and people will stay away from future Beaumonts making them harder to sell.

Why do people pay attention to anything that goes on in the make believe land of Barrett Jackson ?

They pay attention so they can get a realistic estimate of their vehicle's worth. (tongue planted firmly in cheek).

Right now I'm drilling holes in my Parisienne ... getting it prepped to send down to BJ in 2016. It's a former factory race car ... a rare "Swiss cheese" Canadian Parisienne.

Yep, BJ is a make-believe land for sure, and Craig Jackson is the Wizard of marketing.

Yeah we may not agree with alot of it but you can't knock success as they have these sales figured out with the hype and all the rest that goes on as well as anyone could. I still say I honestly enjoy it as one of the most interesting car shows that I have ever gone to but my attitude is pretty easy and I just take it for what it is worth. Ranks right up with Disneyland and I enjoy them both equally.

It's a beautiful looking car, I am glad for the seller, if he really wanted to liquidate his car.

Regardless to all the hipe about whether or not it is a Clone, it is a 73617, which is a 2 door hard top coupe car, depending on whether or not it has the right options ie A51 , will dictate the true finish of the car.

DEJ, I too am curious to know if it's a A51 73617 car. If that's what the registration/GM docs says it is... then that's awesome! (Unfortunately we can't see that info)

The term "re-bodied" is more appropriate for this car, because the body for this particular car once was a yellow '67 Malibu.

Real or not... I agree with you. It's a really beautiful car, and would cost a bundle to restore it to it's current condition.

B-J  says  with Documentation    papers not mentioned in 2013 advertisement    must have been a rusty SD  with donor body

Guess this blows the Beaumont vs chevelle value discussion out! Can't see anyone paying $47k for an SS clone... This car must show really nice to bring that $$, kind of speaks to the quality of the car.

I'd be a bit disappointed to hear it was a rebody... The description leaves that to the imagination...

While we're discussing SDs and Customs, maybe someone can help out on this.
A 73617 car will always be a Custom 2 dr.hardtop as far as I know. You could get an A51 option which made it a Custom 2 dr.hardtop with a Sport Deluxe package.I would get ticked every year when I got my licence plate renewal forms and they said 1967 Beaumont Custom 2 dr.hardtop when all the emblems said Sport Deluxe.I understand the end of 1966 thing and Customs having SD options until then, but if you ordered a Custom(or maybe you couldn't) with a big block before the end of '66 did it stay as a Custom with Custom mouldings etc.?Or could you only get a big block in an SD 73817 for the full model year?

A 736 vin sports option was available with 396, a custom never was available as a bbc. I keep a pretty simple perspective on this, if it's a 736 Sd or a 738 sd, it's an SD. For example through the years some chevelle SS 's were options, some were a model (ie unique vin). it varied year to year, or in canadian examples it varied mid-year in 67...

Just got home from B.J. What a blast! Like "Mardi Gras" with a car show attached! Saw the Beamont you are all discussing and  "real" or not it was nicely done. To put the auction prices in perspective an admitted 67 Chevelle SS 396 4sp re-creation sold for $1000 dollars more than the Beaumont at $44K. It was triple Granada Gold and very well done. The buy of the auction to me was a white with red int 70 Duster 340 4sp documented by Gouvier the Mopar guru. sold for $18,500. Also saw a 69 Z28 Camero go for $31K but suspect it was a clone?
