door seal problems

Hi guys (and girls) new member here, I just bought a 1951 Pontiac Silver Streak 4 door flat 6 standard and am having problems closing the rear doors. I have hung doors before so I removed the door striker so the door closes with no latch problems and found the door would not sit tight so there would be no difference between the body and door being flush with one another. The door needed a little adjustment to sit with equal spacing in the door opening but still would no close properly. After a lot of head scratching and shining the flashlight around the closed door it would appear the rubber is holding it out. I checked around but could not find an accurate profile of the door rubber anywhere. My question is, does anyone have a picture of or know where I could find out what the rubber should look like.    thanks in advance........1.jpg

If it turns out that you have the incorrect door weather strip, we can supply the correct product. I will do a quote for you tomorrow

hi 52.........thanks for the replies....I haven't had time to check all my emails until now. The photo you sent is just what I was looking for, it would appear that the rubber on my car is too thick and keeping the door open a bit and judging from what I can see now that confirms my suspicions. In your first message you said you can quote me a price to do the 2 back doors, could you also send me a small sample of what you are selling so I can make a comparison just to be sure it will solve the issue. Thanks...........tightturns

hi NOS.....sorry but I messed up my relies. Thanks for your offer, I have a picture now from another member that shows the correct rubber for the back doors and it is a lot slimmer than mine. It appears mine was changed to what ever was available and is now stopping the doors from moving even closer to the body for a tighter fitting door. Could you supply me with a sample piece of your product to see if it will do the trick or not? thanks in advance........tightturns

hi 1952 Pontiac........Sorry about messing up my reply but still thanks for your photos they are just what I've been searching for. They clearly show the difference between my rubber and yours. I would have to say that mine was an after market band aid that created another issue. I have left a message with NOS to see if his product is similar to what you have and if all goes well I will install it and solve the alignment problem. Thanks again...tightturns

thanks again 1952, that's a nice looking car you have. My first car back in 1962 was the same colour as yours.
