Radio delete...more pics first post.

Hi, I just bought a 57 Pathfinder 2 dr post. It's completely original, was in a front end collision in Jan 1967 and sat in a garage ever since. It's a bare bones car, and didn't come with a radio. The radio delete plate is there. How common was radio delete in this era? *edit* Radio question was answered, thanks. I'm adding the rest of the pics of the car for those that didn't see them in the other thread.

It was very common on car that were not ordered with a radio    I think a lot of dealers installed radios and mirrors at the dealer ship

The int looks like a 57 Chevy 150.

I think this model is the CP equivalent to the 57 Chevy 150. It's pretty plain, but I kinda like them that way.

Mine has the 261, and three speed. Everything is there except for three spark plug wires. Unless something is terribly wrong with it my plan is to keep it as near to stock as possible. Seems a shame to find a car that's been sitting garaged since 1967 and then hot rod it or something. I want a decent looking driver. The guy I got it from has another 57 with the 283 4 barrel and a 'glide he was trying to sell me. I think this 261 is just fine though, nothing open to the elements and even the air cleaner is still there.

Turns out my neighbor across the street just picked up a 57 Chevy 150 two door. 235 blue flame, three speed...pretty much the same car as mine except his has a radio. Pretty rough in places, and going to need a fair bit of rust repair. I can see we're gonna be hanging out a fair bit. :)

I like your way of thinking ... it's exactly what I'd do ... but if the six is toast, I wouldn't hesitate to find a v-8 with a 4 speed for it.

Perhaps it was common back then, but try finding a radio delete plate nowadays - I searched for many months, finally found a NOS for my 56 at California Pontiac Restoration - only one they had in inventory - cost me $100 - but it does have the look I wanted for my interior (stripped down racer). Whatever you do, don't just throw it away!

I noticed when I was last out there looking at it, it has no side mirrors, no holes where they once might have been either? Unless it had a peep mirror on the door frame, it appears it never had them...

A lot of mirrors were dealer installed upon customer request (extra).

I had a '86 Cutlass Supreme 2dr in the early nineties that came without a radio from the factory. Well optioned car, except no radio. It did come with a radio accommodation package which included the speakers and radio antennae in the windshield.
