1968 Parisienne front park lenses.

Hi,

I have a 1968 Australian delivered Pontiac Parisienne (4 door pillarless hardtop) that was made in Canada and shipped to Oz in the 60's. I'm in the process of restoring the car but I'm finding it near impossible to find a set of both left and right

front park lens housings and the park lenses themselves. Can anyone tell me if the 68 Catalina, Ventura or the 68 Bonnerville ones would fit? If so, could you guys in Canada recommend a supplier or dealer please?

Cheers.

I'm sure the housings and lenses would be the same as 1968 US Bonneville, Catalina & Ventura.  I'd say your best option is to keep an eye on ebay, or possibly California Pontiac Restorations (they also sell on ebay as 'calponres').  If 1968 is like similar years, there should be both clear and orange lenses available.   Typically Canadian cars had the clear lenses, with an orange 1157 bulb.

If it helps, I believe the lenses and housing are the same as a 68 GTO, too.

The GTO lenses are readily available, but I'd triple check to ensure they'd fit the big cars.

It's quite possible that the serial numbers aren't the same, but I do know the GTO lenses will fit. My 68 2+2 currently has
68 GTO lenses and buckets. I picked them up real cheap somewhere and they did fit, so I was happy.

Just an option.

Scott

Hey Scott. So just to confirm this. Your 68 has the GTO lenses, does it also have the park lens housings as well? Cause I also need these. Just another question I see you guys talking about "2 + 2". Excuse my Aussie ignorance
but what do you guys mean by this?

Steve.

Just another question. The 1968 Parisienne I have is a "B" body car/chassis. Are the 1968 GTO, Lemans the same?

Thanks.

The 2+2 was a sport type package available on the 1967 - 1969 Parisienne's.  It typically included:  side louvers, bucket seats, console, ralley wheels, etc.   In 1970 it was it's own model, but was really a Parisienne with the sport type features.   2+2 is supposed to mean 2 people in the front, 2 people in the back.   This months feature car is a 68 Parisienne 2+2.

The '68 GTO lenses AND housings will work on your big car. I used them on a '68 GTO I had...not the correct numbers but they will work. Both are available as reproductions from Ames Performance Engineering and Original Parts Group and are US companies.

Check the Ames Pontiac Catalogue on pages 38 and 39. They have a listing for left and right housings as well as the lenses. Housings are $65.00 each; lenses are $53.00 each. They do say that they are not an exact fit but that they do fit and work just fine. Good luck.smile

Just looking at these park lamp assemblies from "The Parts Place" in Dekalb IL. $199.00 US for the complete left and right hand side. Has anyone dealt with these guys before? Are they good to deal with?

I've dealt with "The Parts Place" once, and it was fine.  If I recall, I had a couple things sent to my hotel in Phoenix.  All ok.

CLINT, WHAT LEADS YOU TO BELIEVE A '70 2+2 WAS IT'S OWN MODEL, WHILE A '69 2+2 WAS A "SPORT TYPE PACKAGE" ON A PARISIENNE? '69 AND '70 WERE BOTH BADGED AND MARKETED AS JUST "2+2". '67 & '68 WERE BOTH BADGED AND MARKETED AS "PARISIENNE 2+2". ALL '67-'70 2+2'S WERE IDENTIFIED BY A UNIQUE MODEL#

Does he mean that the VIN shows a 70 as a 2+2 but 69 and down it does not?

Just guessing.

'67 THRU '70 2+2'S ARE IDENTIFIED IN THE VIN'S BY MODEL NUMBERS. PARISIENNE'S HAVE A DIFFERENT MODEL NUMBER IN THE VIN'S.
