Might be worthwhile refinancing the mortgage, I do every once in a while when interests drop like they have been, they figure out penalties and all that, see if its worth it. Save couple hundred off the mortgage a month, count me in
If anyone is interested just contact the guy and ask him what he's thinking, so he blurts out $10,000 and all you do is say without seeing it in person I am at $3,000, if he is pissed then you got no chance, if he throws back $6,000 then you got a negotiation going and life is good...take it from there.
Just heard back from the seller. He had contacted me earlier in the year asking for a price. I replied asking for photos. He didnt get my reply. He is looking at somewhere near $5500. He has someone coming tomorrow who made that offer without seeing it. Don't expect it will last long...
Geez, almost like I knew, interested people don't balk at "reasonable offer" all you have to do is ask. It actually probably weeds out the tire kickers by not having a price.
I spoke with seller (son) as well. But unable to get him to commit, even when he said a number $$$ I said yes (cash). But got put off as he says he is not the decision maker. Then wants to sell other cars and parts, all over the map. Unsure how in the heck to proceed when that happens, other then wait and see. I do not like that kind of sales tactic. Man up, you put a number its accepted, take it.
would it not have a stripe down the bottom being a 2+2?
Originally.
Did anyone notice that it appears to have the rare fiber optic light monitoring system? Check out the chrome indicators on the top of the front fenders. It would also have a little indicator on the rear shelf below the rear window for monitoring the rear lights.
The 300-horse 350 is a fine engine. It would be very demanding of high octane fuel though, unless you did something about the cam to reduce the cylinder pressure.

I noticed the front turn signal indicators, I have a couple sets for my cars but haven't drummed up the courage to drill the holes in the fenders. I have however installed the rear indicator on my convertible (very tough to find), and have the one for the package shelf in a hardtop. I also noted the underhood light so it may have the light package, and as Vince pointed out the speedminder speedo.
What octane fuel would that 300 hp engine need? I wonder because my '73 owners manual and underhood spec decals indicate 91 or higher for my original 350 with 8.5:1 compression.
Talked to Shaun, owners son. A lot going on there..... Dad's a car guy but doesn't do computers, he wants to sell parts and engines and all sorts of stuff.
Short story: Gramps bought the car in 69 handed the keys over to the son in 76. Son parked the car in 81. Sold the house last year and had to move the car at that time. Now it's up for grabs.
As noted before there is a "not even seen the car offer"of $5500 on the table. Shaun repeatedly asked if I thought that was a fair price. I just told him that it would need to be looked at to get a fair assessment of the condition it's in before I would table an offer.
Ah, the old $5,500.00 sight unseen offer trick ... second time I've fell for it this week!

The ad says original unrestored. Does that mean original paint? I can't tell from the pics. Looks like a replacement vinyl top?
If it's as claimed I think $5500 is a fair price. If it were in Ontario close by I would be going to have a look. Cost of shipping from Alberta to here plus no ability to see for myself makes it out of my range.
All the good ones are out west!
No trip to Calgary. The seller emailed this morning and indicated that the offers were up to $6900.00. I'm out.
The car was clearly repainted, as noted by the cracking of the nose and that the mid body line is indistinguishable. The missing body line is what bothers me. Is it just several repaints or was it wiped out and is a bondo queen.
That is one fine lookin' ride. Not sure what the market is in that area, but I would think that $5500 is very fair if it is as nice in person as it is in the photos.

Yeah...when body lines are soft...that is when the wondering what's underneath starts...
good call!
