Think as soon as you switch the serial plate on vehicle is when your 'playing" with FIRE!!! May be legal to sell the stuff but switching Vin plate is a definite NO NO!!! Same as weed control stuff from the USA you can legally bring it back to Canada but don't get "caught" using it in Ontario!!!! [ after midnight seems to be pretty safe]

Can I tell you some stories (mostly on trucks) thousands and thousands of of cars have been restored with different donor bodies....
and I spray my lawn in the daytime with USA weed control and some of the neighbours too
Let me ask something: Isn't this how all those 1932 Model A hot rods get put on the road? I know things were a little more homespun back 80 or 90 years ago.
If possessing and selling VIN tags was legal then it would be a walk in the park to turn a stolen vehicle into just another clean VIN. I'm sure that the intent of VIN Tampering Laws is a sound one.
Possessing is one thing perhaps, but attaching them to a vehicle... There must be a way to legally remove a VIN tag for repair to the cowl, dash or door jamb, but it must involve the police inspecting the vehicle. So, is there a legal way to do this?

What I don't understand is how a person like that who cant even spell his own ad correctly would be able to properly acquire this stuff. (if that's even possible.) I just hope none of those "ownerships" are for cars I have.
Sounds bizarre and some kind of a con job to try to sell paper/tags that state that you own a car that doesn't otherwise exist.

I think these are guys that got them from old wrecking yards etc......maybe the son/grandson of the owners. When we used to scrap cars, they wanted the ownerships.....what they did with them, who knows?
First of all in Ontario they are registration papers. Not ownerships, they just prove that the vehicle is registered to you or whoevers name is on the green paper. We do not have titles on Ontario.
I do know if you have the vin tags and attach them to a vehicle other than the vin that is illegal. As far as someone selling old registrations and calling them ownerships seems like a gray area that should be closed off.
I do believe it's legal to sell registration ..... It's ilegal to Switch vin number on your car .
But if you close the garage door and no one knows .... There's a cool magic trick you can do .... :p
There's a guy who as a boot at the Barrie flea market every year and he as a huge ""collection"" of VIN .
As far as i know in BC if you want to re register a vehicle in your name, ownership must be in your name ( must be accompanied by transfer of ownership papers) so when you purchase the vin you are buying whatever comes with it, weather tags or whole car. The problem is if it's an in province purchase( just goes through). If you purchase a vehicle out of province there must be a visual inspection of vin on the vehicle before it can be registerd, but it can still be transferred. You can get a new vin on anything kit car, trailer, 1930 model A. but it's only a # doesn't show any details about history of vehicle. So you can buy tags but same old thing buyer beware! But ya Doug 3g for a 1 1/2x3 piece of tin and you still have to find something to put it on that's not lagit!! Just wana bees!! I'd rather pay more for the one that is correct! Wonder how you put mileage on a vin tag for sale????

Here in Quebec it's quite easy to transfer a car from another province ! Lets say i find a Ontario registration on the ground, all i need to do is go to the registration office (S.A.A.Q) , make a false bill of sale and there you go ... i transfer the car to my name ! I've always found it absurd and stupid how the Quebec registrations law where made ! After registration all i need is a safety inspection.
On the other hand ..... if you're in Ontario and importing a car from Quebec, you almost need a bloodtest and a polygraph to make sure the car isn't stolen !
Here, anything goes! Scrapped cars are driving the roads.

Ever hear of a Dual ownership ? when the dollar is low, to make it attractive to send trucks to U.S. a dealer in e.g. Montreal, sells a new truck across the border,
but he gets a vin tag made, and a door sticker made, and then a "friend" shows up with a almost identical truck and it gets registered in Canada
and sold in Canada for dramatic price cut and dramatic profit to dealer.... Then then there are two trucks running in two countries with the same vin....
