I WOULD CERTAINLY SUBSCRIBE TO A PRINTED MAGAZINE FOCUSED ON BEAUMONTS, ACADIANS AND CANADIAN BUILT PONTIACS (I HAVE NO REAL INTEREST IN AMERICAN PONTIACS). MIGHT BE TOUGH TO FIND FRESH FEATURE SUBJECTS THOUGH. I THINK TODD (OWNER OF THIS SITE) STRUGGLES AT TIMES TO FIND ONE MONTHY FEATURE CAR FOR THIS SITE. FOR THE RECORD, I PREFER PRINTED MAGAZINES. NOTHING LIKE SITTING ON THE DECK IN THE SUMMER WITH A GOOD CAR RAG AND A COLD "POP"!smile

For most magazines, it's about advertising. Do you want a magazine that is 25-40% advertising in exchange for a $5 price or do you want a magazine with less than 5% advertising in exchange for a highly focused editorial package aimed at readers?


In a nutshell, that's the choice.





It's a toss up. I have no problem ignoring ads as long as the content is great. The early Pontiac Enthusiast issues were very light on advertising. Later they had a lot more ads but I didn't mind because the content was still top notch. It was about the only car magazine I ever read cover to cover, month after month. If a high percentage of advertising is what it takes to support a quality publication I'm all for it.

As far as helping out? Wow, I'm flattered but I have zero media experience!

I was the newsletter editor of the Canadian Pontiac Specialty Chapter of POCI for a number of years. The newsletter was really a 40 page magazine issued 4 times per year. I can tell you that is it an inordinate amount of work getting stories on Canadian Specific cars especially different stories from what we find posted on here. There is no question this site is the authoritative Canadian Pontiac, Acadian, Beaumont place for information. 

While people like receiving the printed material I found that sending it electronically was not at all well received. We had a circulation of at most 80 paying members and I would post it on this site as well for free and send it to interested parties like George Zappora. The shear difficulty in getting new and unique stories made it extremely hard to continue production. 

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you want to know about any specific Canadian Pontiac or Canadian Pontiacs in general this is the place to get that information.

The Canadian Classic Chevelles and Beaumonts Club is struggling to get members to contribute
information to be published in their club magazine. I know that the club focuses on Beaumonts Chevelles and Acadians
but I think their 30 plus page club magazine is a great "hard copy" venue for Canadian Poncho members or Pontiac enthusiasts to express their opinions and help their membership help each other. Membership is a paltry $60.00 per year. The magazine has tried to stay away from advertising and be 100 percent dedicated to supply only Canadian information to inform and help their membership. Due to dwindling membership they have only recently accepted advertising. A victim of the digital age? If some or all of the Poncho membership were to get behind this club it could be a great voice for all who are interested in Beaumonts, Acadians, Canadian Pontiacs and Chevelles. Everyone should have a look at the club, its news magazine and what the club is promoting.
