First of all,  the cowl tag is 100% correct and has the proper overspray and has never been off the firewall.

Second, the cowl tag reads true to what the car is, color combo, options, etc.(what a breath of fresh air to see a car painted the original colors, this show great restraint on the restore and he should be awarded a medal of honor for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Third, it does NOT have a vinyl top.

Looking on the roof under the white "eyebrows" I drew, it looks like reflection on the roof?

From the ad:

The paint is in great condition with no peeling or cracking done in Saddle and Fawn two-tone.

Also note that there are reflections in the roof as Carl pointed out and no vinyl seams on the top surface.

Definitely a painted roof.

See that C pillar horizontal trim at bottom of drip rail, from drip rail to back window, its only available with vinyl top, to hide end of vinyl and paint meeting. Chevelle didn't come in two tone paint.

Paint code is SV

S is sierra tan main color

V is cameo beige roof

yes chevelles AND beaumonts came with 2 in all years.  paint divider trim is there on all 2 tone cars.  INFACT that paint divider trim was available even without 2 colors, it is option code D99 two-tone paint divider mouldings.    I know, i have owned and currently own cars with this option, with and without 2 colors

Im not here to argue, just stating facts, end of story.

end of story!! lol sounds like someone hostile today lol I emailed the guy asking about the car, it still appears to be vinyl to me. Two reasons why, the roof has no gloss, if it was painted it should have some hint of gloss. The roof line at top of C pillar is too crisp, if painted that line should be more curved in keeping with rest of the car. After thinking about it, you would be correct on that trim piece on panel to cover paint line. I know my old man had wanted me to paint roof of one of the cars white, to look like a convertible, i thoughtthe guy was on crack and stay the hell away from my cars. If I remember right, roof paint came in white and black, vinyl was white tan and black, but that was thirty years ago when i lookedup that information, since then Ive been onlife support for three days, after my heart stopped working and I launched my 1990 F150 supercab 4x4 off a bridge onto road below nose first, truck was beyond destroyed. Ive forgotten alot of things in my life, including how long its been since my mom died. So please forgive me if im not up to snuff on less priority things. Deal?

Nice car. Why is there a 5 at the beginning of the serial number. Thought Chevy started with a 1?

On the Canadian cars (not sure about US models) the first digit was the year for at least 66 and down, I'm not sure about 67 though. My 65 Acadian and my 66 Nova started with a 5 and a 6 respectively.

And I should add, I'm not sure when the first digit became the year either but I don't think it was that way back in the earlier models, maybe in the 40's or 50s?

It just seems strange to me as my 65 El Camino starts with a 1

65Camino's car is from St. Louis.

Boy is this subject car ever a beauty and that two tone paint is awesome. The ad states it is an Arizona Car, can anyone explain how an Oshawa built car started out in Arizona?

Someone must have moved down there with it.

I know years ago someone on the Nova site saw a 63 Acadian SD convert on the freeway in Phoenix! You just never know.

And remember, there's that turquoise /red interior 67 2+2 in the midwest somewhere too.

And I agree that thing is beautiful. Like Dave says, it's so cool that someone had the 'nads to leave it the original colours when they aren't mainstream hotrod colours.

I like the look of this car! I agree, nice that it wasn't colour changed for resale! There was a 67 SS chevelle last year for sale in this combo. I'm sure there are a lot of D99 cars that had their trim yanked off on their first repaint! Just like I'm sure green was Very popular in the late 60s, and much less survived their repaints! My friend has a 67 chevelle SS that is coded bolero red, and painted it dark green to be 'different'!!
