Hi folks.  I've been checking this site out over the past few months and decided to join.  I have 1972 Buick GS Stage 1 clone 4 speed.  I know it's not a Poncho, but it's mine and I love it.  

My dad had a friend who had a 1967 Beaumont SD 396 4 speed.  It was the fastest car around.  It was Ivy Green and had a straight axle under it.  It was known as "Poison Ivy" and it is legendary around my home town of Clarksburg.  Yep, I'm a Clarke from Clarksburg!  They once took a road trip in it to Nashville in the late 1960s and found themselves staring down the barrel of a local law man's gun as he informed them that a straight axle was illegal in those parts.  It was the getaway car for my parents' wedding too.

I saw it restored back to it's stock specs in the early 1990s and I was smitten with it.  I was 17 and couldn't afford the $12 500 asking price.  I recently met the person who restored the car by accident.  We got to talking and he told me it was he who bought it and restored it.  He knows where it is, but the current owner won't sell it, it just sits in a storage building and never turns a wheel.

Thanks for the welcome guys.  I wanted a GS Buick Stage 1 4 speed for most of my life.  I always knew that it would have dog dishes on it, in fact, I bought them three years before I had the car.  I have owned the car for nearly 4 years.  I have a couple of other pics here.  Since this interior shot was taken I have installed a factory Hurst 5335 shifter handle and black knob, and a correct radio delete plate.  In the photo from the fall the car was dirty, but I loved the stance so much I had to lay on my belly and take the shot.  I am also in the process of restoring a ram air air cleaner.

Welcome from Calgary. I am a big fan of the 70-72 Skylark and GS - yours looks fantastic with the Rallye's. (To me, poverty caps look out of place on a "luxury" Buick but it does look mean with them.)

Are restoration parts for your Skylark more difficult to get than a comparable year Chevelle or GTO?

My Buick, even though it's a luxury brand with the deluxe interior, it is pretty stripped down.  No air conditioning (I would say most Buicks had it, mine does not) and manual steering.  As far as parts availability, there is significantly more available for Chevelles and GTOs, although it is getting better.

I am pretty sure I know who owned that Beaumont, it came from Grey Motors in Owen Sound. The straight axle was added later and it was quick!
