The SS has 3:73 gears, I think Rays are 3:07 if I remember. Good top end but the 3:73 will eat anything of the line. I have 2 cars with them and they have lots of grunt off the line.

My Road Runner had 4.10s and would walk away for him until he'd catch me at around 70mph. Then pass me like I was standing still. My Mustang has 3.70s, he has yet to catch that one .....
Its got an open 2.73 rear end, I have no true weight other than sales brochure which says 3,681. Its a 1983 truck engine with headers and an intake, just one of those crazy unexplained things in life. The car will lay rubber for 200 feet and it squats hard right going into second gear and spins for another 50 feet. This thing will start laying rubber at 25 mph if I mat it. On the highway when it kicks out of passing gear at 78 mph it starts pulling so hard you'd think the hood is going to get sucked in just like 65camino said it turns whatever else is near you into a small spec in the rear mirror real quickly. I have had it doing 115 on the on ramps to the Don Valley Parkway before entering the traffic lanes. I'm really afraid of this car to be truthful. I don't drive it like that anymore after almost spinning it around on dry pavement one night. At my age you have to be careful not to excite yourself too much. I don't drive it much and would sell it but its so so ugly and deemed worthless by most enthusiasts its too hard to move these old cars nowadays so it sits in the garage. I don't even know when I'll fire it up this year.
The real scary parts is I know both my late model L37 Cadillacs will blow it away.
PS: the only time I tried Darryl's Mustang was on its very first outing and the throttle cable was from the small block and wouldn't open the secondaries. The light weight Pony got a couple of fenders on me that's true.
I think he is bench racing Now if Ray starts telling us he put a $5 bill on the dash and there wasn't a passenger who could retrieve it while he was accelerating then we'll know for sure he's bench racing!

I don't think cars get passed standing still on a bench boys and very few Men will admit when their have been beat....real world not a yarn. Thanks 65Camino for telling it like it is.
The best idea I ever got was to contact Todd when he sold his '69 Laurentian, this old truck engine was destine for Todd's '69. I also owe a debt of gratitude to Todd for agreeing to let me acquire this engine. Todd did a lot of prep work on the engine too which I am grateful for.
Now the Wizard of Clinton has waved his wand again and we now have two Big Block LeMans Beasts roaming Ontario. Can't wait to see Uncle Bernie's in person.
Still doing a few tweaks. Have a noisy lifter, timing (think I'm close) and have to flush the cooling system then I'm good to go. I can tell you at full throttle it doesn't stay in first gear long

I had a spare 30 minutes on Monday so I went to the garage, dropped in a battery and fired up my 454 beast. It was running ok so I slipped it out onto the street. I drove it around for about 5 minutes when I almost lost it on a slight curve. I collected it up and drove back to the garage and parked it and took the battery out again hoping nobody saw me. Maybe I will work up enough courage in a month or two to take it out again.

Good for you !! Keep practising you'll get the hang of it and remember without a Big Block "its just a car"
