Lets not forget they we a brotherhood/ sisterhood here that is unique... Revolving around the unique Canadian built cars!

but I could give a crap what engine or where your car was built....your on this site and sharing your ride and passion...that's good enough for me...

hell look at my bio.... I think I've for it covered..

my next build is a 68 firebird with a Canadian built sbc and supercharger?   Now I'm confused...evileye

Well with the discussion of ""Cdn"" built we would have to include the Oshawa built GTO's, they would qualify, as well as the St. Therese built Firebird's,

Would they not??

Just stirring the pot.

It's a turd under the hood at the moment, and I have no plans to detail there until I convert it to a big block. Otherwise, appearance wise all I need to do it put some of the side trim back on and install a windshield, then at least in pictures it would be "showable" but still not on the road.

As soon as it's basically complete I will certainly submit it.

I know of at least 2 Acadians but I've twisted the member's arms to no avail.

I love the idea of the 409 survivor. That is one of the holy grail Canadian Ponchos.

I have nothing against American cars. Every car/truck I've ever owned has been American made. I've only owned ONE Canadian made car ... ever. American Pontiac cars SHOULD be posted on threads ... as well as Chevs, Dodges, etc. ... even Fordsbiggrin.

I'm just saying that a American-made car has NO place (I my stern opinion) as a FEATURE CAR on a website called CANADIAN Poncho. What is the purpose of doing that? no

I'm sure there are tons of Canadian Pontiac cars out there ... if worst comes to worse, I'll post my dirty clunker as a feature Canadian Pontiac.

I agree with Darryl but we have already had non Canadian Poncho's as Feature cars. Both cases were F bodies as I recall, a first generation Firebird and re-skinned Camaro.

To throw in my 2˘, since the reason for this site's existence is Canadian Pontiacs, I think that feature cars should be Canadian Pontiacs and related products (i.e. Acadian, Beaumont, etc.).  Granted, what constitutes a Canadian Pontiac became a little muddied in the seventies and eighties, once the effects of the auto pact kicked in.  For example, I think nobody would question the choice of a 1966 Grande Parisienne as a prime choice of Canadian Poncho monthy feature car but what about a 1976 Bonneville which was sold at Canadian dealerships right alongside of Parisiennes, etc.?  Both were offered for sale in Canada.  While one was uniquely Canadian (chevy chassis and drivetrain, etc.), the other was pretty much the same as sold south of the border (with some small detail differences).  To make it a little more complicated, how about cars like the '69 Lemans that I know about locally, which was special ordered through a Canadian dealer, delivered in Canada as a new car, and has lived all its life in Canada?

In my opinion, I would draw the line at cars that were not sold in Canada and then judge the few exceptions case-by-case.  IMHO the export cars built in Canada (which are essentially Canadian Ponchos in spirit and configuration) should be included as well.

Don't get me wrong, I like all cars made by all companies, and enjoy reading about them whenever somebody posts about them, regardless of the brand or their country of origin.  I say post away, we all enjoy reading about them.

However, I think making a car which was not made for the Canadian market, built in Canada, or even bought at a Canadian Pontiac dealer would steer the site away from its intended purpose.  To open it up a little, for sure feature cars in progress, survivors, etc.  I don't think a car needs to be "perfect" to be interesting and significant.

Again, just my opinion, but in the end it's Todd's call.

I , for one would love to see your car featured..    here's why..  so it is not a finished car.. but everything you have done to date is exceptionally detailed...

to me , the feature car is not about the sheetmetal .. it is the story about the car .. these things take on a life of their own .. when our passion is poured into them..

carry on !!

I wholeheartedly approve this message!

And for the record, I'd LOVE to see project cars as feature cars...

Somehow my 2 Canadian built Pontiac's would stir no interest here. Both Oshawa built and sold new here, but who cares about 2007 Grand Prix's? My only interesting Pontiac is USA built and very patriotic south of the border. That's my 1980 Trans Am Indy 500 Pace Car. Coincidentally it's May 25th 1980 race date labelled on the door was 35 years ago today!

I don't feel it's a worthy feature car even though it was ordered, sold new ,and has been in Canada all it's time since then. Ohio is close, just 35 miles across Lake Erie, but it's still NOT Canadian!

Some really good discussion going on here, and yes I understand that the original intent of this web site was focused on Canadian Built Cars.
But, as bjburnout stated, the cars are secondary, this site is about the people and their "projects" maybe it is time to shift focus, and maybe it is time to begin featuring members and their skills, or craftsmanship.

Good idea, let's start with Stevenson...

He sells fake Pontiac parts, guts perfectly good cars for their engine, doesn't allow fellow members to visit Manitoba, claims he owns a 66 GP and he's just mean to me...

Exactly, as DEJ mentioned, those are all SKILLS.
