Love the article and pictures.  I just think the old medium duty trucks are great but not everyone can handle maintenance or restoring one on these trucks.  I really hope I get the opportunity to use my 2 ton Dodge D-500 but it is a big task with lots of welding required.smaller pic.jpg

Yeah, these trucks take a little longer to restore. Everything's bigger.

We used this truck quite a bit for the first couple of years when we only had one race car, but after we got the Pontiac, we got a stacker trailer to pull behind a motor home. Unfortunately, the old Mack doesn't get out much anymore.

Here's a picture of the trailer we used to pull with this truck...

Here's a link to a build thread on that truck...

I remember when Mack trucks were built in Oakville, Ontario from 1966 through 1993 across from the Ford plant. I don't know if they built the B-series trucks like yours but they sure cranked out the square cab R & DM-series. I remember Redpath sugar along the harbor front in Toronto had a fleet of B-series Macks. They were very popular in the construction industry as cement mixers and with heavy gooseneck trailers, but come to think of it they were popular all over the place.

Nice work on your rig!

I think 1966 might have been the last year for the B model Macks and I think the R model came out at about that time. I think I once read that there was a little overlap in production of the two models though.
I always thought the R model was a good looking truck too. Here's a picture of one...

I sent the guy that wrote the article a link to this thread and he noticed forespeed's Chevy II wagon.

He said he's always looking for interesting wagons like that to feature in the Light Commercial Vehicles column.

In this case I see forespeed lives in Saginaw Michigan, so he's probably a bit too far away to get together with the writer. He's in the Toronto to Barrie Ontario area.

If anybody out there has a cool wagon or truck,,, and you could arrange to meet up with him in the Toronto to Barrie area, you might try giving him a shout at  cdanpannell@msn.com

I love that truck!
I'm not sure of exactly what kinds of vehicles he's looking for but it is, or was, a light commercial vehicle.
With 650 horsepower at the rear wheels, that thing has got to be fun to drive.
You might try sending him an email... cdanpannell@msn.com

I just noticed in forespeed's other post that he's planning on going to Oshawa next month, so I shot him a PM to let him know that the guy who wrote the article had commented on his wagon.

I think that is a Mack truck. It looks like an L model from around the 40's or early 50's. I'm not really up on all that, so I could be wrong.

Here's a picture of a similar one...
