I LIKE IT. Especially the two tone and motor tranny combination.

Hey Todd would you put the engine photo in the Engine Colour Thread I created in the Library. I am not able to open it anymore. This engine is one of the best examples we have seen so it will make a great reference addition to that thread.

That's on the money! Its a more door, but a very nice one, looking to be in turn key condition.

Very sharp car. It is worth that money easily. There is also a 56 Laurentian in coral and grey four door 265 auto for $6000 in the North Bay area. The car market must be at an all time low because a 20 years ago we sold a  1956 35,000 mile plain jane pathfinder 261  3 speed for $9500 at the fall Barrie flea market on a friday morning. The car was very nice in two tone light green dark green.

It never stops amazing me how wrapped up people are in how many doors a car has. More door shmore door, who cares................just enjoy cars for what they are. You are going to have the same amount of fun and enjoyment either way, two door four door six door eight door, who cares. It only matters when you are trying to sell your car and what i say to folks that are that wrapped up in what a car is worth is this............... put your money in real estate or silver or such things if you are that worried about what something is worth or may be worth. Car values suck right across the board and even rag tops have taken a hit in the last few years. You have to be in it for the love and passion and not what it is worth. I am into cars not doors. Cheers. George

Good post, George.  I have to agree that 4-doors do not get enough love in our hobby.  That has made them the best value to get into the old car hobby, but the downside is that this very fact keeps many people from spending money on them as they feel they will lose too much should they decide to sell.

When you think of it, back in the day while many of us were pining away for a ragtop or hardtop, it was the 4-door that got us from A to B.  Whether it was our parents' or relative's car, or our own first car, oftentimes it had 4 doors.  I have often wondered what the younger people must think when they go to car shows - perhaps that almost everybody drove a 2 door hardtop or convertible back in the day, since that's what you mainly see at the shows.  This must be perplexing to them as the exact opposite is true in today's market, in fact the 4 door sedan and modern equivalent of the station wagon ("crossovers" and SUVs) are most common on the road.  Can't imagine what they think when they see old bare bones pickup trucks without leather seats and air conditioning... or a radio.  biggrin

Thanks for "sticking up" for 4-doors - I wish more people could get into them, they really are the best bang for the buck in the hobby now, and to be honest I just about want to barf when I see somebody cut up a nice old 4-door as a donor for some rusted out beat up 2 door, just because the 4 door was cheap enough to be bought for parts.  We need to save 'em not scrap 'em...

I don't mind a four door. In fact I really enjoyed owning the 58 Dodge Regent which was a four door. I had more people stop and want to talk about it more than any other car I've owned.

Todd, beautiful 58 Dodge or "Plodge' as they were sometimes know because they were a Dodge coming and a Plymouth going. Todd was your 58 an in inline flathead six or the small V-8.

She had the "big" flattie 6. Canadian Plodges got the larger truck 251. It worked very well and has to be one of the easiest engines to work on.

This car is now priced at a very reasonable $5000. IF the ad is even slightly exaggerated. Which I dont think is the case here, but I'm at the other end of the province and $4950 short in funds!!
