I have owned this car for the past 6 years a very clean fun driver. Stock green interior, rally wheels, bucket seats, console, must be seen to appreciate. High gear ratio, drivers seat requires a repair to about 4" of the seam. The value is there and I do not have to sell so will keep if I do not get my price. No tire kickers please.

Typically they are solid out there.  Midnight Green with matching dark green interior looks very nice. I wonder which 350 it came with? It affects which transmission & differential it would have been built with. The 250-horse L65 (regular fuel 2-barrel) would have come with a Saginaw trans & 10-bolt rear, while the 255-horse LM1 (regular fuel 4-barrel) & 300-horse L48 (premium fuel 4-barrel) would have come with a Muncie & a 12-bolt rear. The LM1 was built in the 1st half of the production year; the L65 was built in the 2nd half.

"High gear ratio" I suspect he means numerically high even though that would be Low gear ratio.

High Numerical Ratio (i.e 4.10:1) is also correctly called a "Low Gear Ratio". You have to say whether it is numerical or not. Confusing huh?

If it was a factory 4-speed with a 12-bolt it would have come with a 3.31 ratio, or if a 10-bolt it would have been a 3.36 ratio. Either way it would have been a 3-series carrier. That would let your 12-bolt run with 3.07, 3.31, 3.55 or 3.73 ratios without resorting to something as dubious as a ring gear spacer.

Cam likely knows as do I but GLHS60 has posted numerous times that his favourite small block is the LM1 so hopefully he will see this. He's an expert on the LM1 and its history.

I dont know the full story but it likely had something to do with the phasing out of the 327s during the 1969 run. The 327s had been phased out of Chevelles, Novas, trucks and all Canadian Pontiacs after the 1968 run, but the 327 continued as base for the full-sized 1969 Chevrolets & also the Camaro. Mid-year the Camaro lost the 327 and started using the 307 as the base V8, at which time the 4-barrel LM1 was dropped in favor of the 2-barrel L65. The full-sized Chevies were the last to lose the 327s and finally late in the run used the L65 as the base V8, dropping the LM1 altogether.

As I mentioned before, the L65s seemed to use the cheaper drivetrains (i.e Saginaw manual transmissions & 10-bolt rears) so economics had something to do with it. Plus the 2-barrel was cheaper on the Bill of Materials than the QuadraJet.  The changeover on Chevelles, Beaumonts, Novas and Acadians was like done because of engine plant changeover to produce the L65s. The LM1 and L65 really were identical engines except for the intake & carb.

For 1971 GM cut the compression on their gas engines so the L48 was functionally an LM1. The LM1 designation was not used again until the 1974 models when it was a California-only offering. That year the 2-barrel carbs couldnt meet the California emissions standards so the LM1 was the base V8 in that state (LM1 was single exhaust in 74 whereas the L48 came with true duals). An exception where the LM1 was offered outside of California in 1974 was on the Canadian full-size Chevrolets & Canadian full-size Pontiacs. Also the dual exhaust L48 had been dropped from the U.S. 1974 Chevelles but it continued on Canadian-built Chevelles, Monte Carlos and the Canadian-built Pontiac Lemans.

Ray, the L48 was my favorite but the LMI history is the good story!!

I am currently restoring a 69 Beaumont L48 4 speed car with 31,000 original miles. it had been sitting in a barn since 1974. I am removing the L48 for preservation and have installed a 400 to play around with.
It has a m20 and 12 bolt rear.
My uncle tells me the L48 gave nothing up the the 396 sd's back in the day.

I clicked on this thread and checked out the car in the first post.    My initial thought was:  "finally a decent looking car at a realistic price"

then i realized it was from 2015!!!!!

if this ad was current,  what would the asking price be????    40????
