Gas prices once again

Oil closed above US $90 yesterday and today its up to $91.60. Projections are for it to go higher through 2023+. Get rid of gas guzzlers may be the new mantra.

What were we paying per litre when oil was at $90/barrel last time?

UPDATE:

I started reading posts from the beginning of this thread (2015) and member 66 Beau posted this chart comparing gas prices vs the price of a barrel of oil. Keep in mind this is for BC but you can see they weren't paying what they are now. At $100/barrel they were paying $1.05.

You win Tim, see it go up this afternoon to 184.9 and thought that was high, filled work car up before it went up.

Should have fill truck too, but too late now.

$1.95 > $8.85 per gallon. A little more than 10 times the price of gas in the 1974 photo of Montreal in the other post ($0.86/gal)

An average house in 1974 was about $40k. Today its what, $750k? Almost 20 times as much.

If a few cents a litre stops Putin in the Ukraine, I wont be complaining too loudly.

How is the cost of natural gas these days? Since we don't have it in PEI I've lost track of the cost.
Is it rising as much as gasoline?

Coming soon

(April 1st. 2022 )

  • The federal carbon tax will increase for the third time during the pandemic to 11 cents per litre of gasoline on April 1, 2022.
  • Alcohol taxes will increase for the third time during the pandemic on April 1, 2022.
  • Taxes already account for about half of the price of beer, 65 per cent of the price of wine and more than three quarters of the price of spirits.

The governments of Alberta, Ontario, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island impose a sneaky form of income taxation known as bracket creep.

Bracket creep happens when governments dont move tax brackets with inflation and inflation automatically bumps taxpayers

into a higher tax bracket even though they cant actually afford to buy more.
