February 2016 Feature Car

I think this is the first time we have featured a car that does not belong to a CP member. However, it's not everyday you come across a 1963 Parisienne factory equipped with a 409 and 4 speed transmission! The owner of the car is Yvan Roy and Yvan's friend Jean Caron tells us about the car:

This 1963 Pontiac Parisienne 2 door was ordered by Mr. P. Busque of Saint-Georges de Beauce, Quebec on March 14, 1963 through the Buick, Pontiac , GMC dealer in Saint-Georges, J.W. Morin with the following equipment:

409 cu.in. engine,

4 speed transmission,

42 Amp Delcotron Alternator,

tinted windshield,

engine block heater,

positraction,

bucket seats,

dash pad,

push button radio,

backup lights,

nylon 800X14 Whitewall tires,

wheel disc hubcaps,

police equipment Heavy Duty Suspension.

He traded a 1957 Pontiac Sedan and was going to take delivery of the car at the production plant in Oshawa, Ontario.

This car was assembled on April 4th 1963 and Mr. Busque took delivery on April 11th

The colour is described as Ember Red/Ermine White with #946, Maroon trim.

Both the current owner and myself saw that car regularly being driven by Mr. Busque to and from work as he drove past our place to get to his residence. As he turned the corner by our place we often prompted him to step on it and he often obliged.

About 7 years ago, my friend and I were talking about cars that we had not seen in a long time and this particular car came into the conversation and neither of us knew what happened to it since both Mr. Busque and his wife had passed away and they had no children. During the better part of 5 years, we were able to find out that the car had been sold prior to her passing to someone in the Montreal area. Then it was learned that it was sold to someone in Ontario but the track went cold from there. I had searched on the web, and had seen a photo of a car that looked like it at a car show in the Oshawa region but was never able to determine who owned it.

I then heard about Canadian Poncho and within about 20 minutes of posting a request for the car I got a reply which lead to my friend purchasing the car. It was completely restored by Atelier 2000, a restoration shop near Quebec City during the past 2 years. This shop obtained a  practically new frame and built the car from there. It was completed in early October 2015 and now resides alongside a collection of American, British and European automobiles in Saint-Georges where it all started.

Beautiful 63 and a great story to go with it. I wonder what the police package included?

Love the car, love the drivetrain in it. I know I bought a new 64cs 409, 425 hp, 4sp. in 1964. I see this car even has none power brakes.

B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. A real Canadian dream car, that most of us could only dream of  owning.

A beauty indeed. One of my favourite years.
The story of tracking down a car from your youth just adds to the enjoyment.

I just have to say it.

Maybe that car was cool in 2008 like that but I just LOVE seeing it like it is now...

I must say, that is the mildest most innocent looking tire smoking muscle car I've yet seen.  What a beauty!  The old french guy sure knew what boxes to check off!

I travelled thru Quebec quite often back in the 80's early 90's. The Quebecois know their cars, thats for sure! Many guys I met that had nice cars really had NICE,NICE cars. The culture there is more Car Crazy overall than anywhere in Canada.

The tastes may be different, more European in some areas, but overall they sure love American muscle. Especially Pontiac's and Mopars.

On a side note a lot of rare HEMI Mopars came out of Quebec.
