Trying to restore back to original condition.4 plus questions that I need some help with.
1)Does the dual exhaust exit behind the rear tire or straight out the back
2) It has a 4 speed, is the original shifter knob, white , black or chrome and does it have the shift pattern on the knob,
3)The original spare wheel is painted the same as the body butternut yellow, are the wheels on the car supposed to be painted yellow or black
4) are the door knob/lock black or chrome with a black interior?
I look forward to some answers.
Thanks Blake

Welcome here Blake.

1) Behind he rear tire

2) White with pattern if it's a bench seat, chrome if it's a console and buckets

Someone else will help with 3 and 4!

And yes, I can see it has buckets but thought other people may have the same question.

And if the spare is yellow I would say the other 4 would be too.

There's a number of Beaumont experts here who will be able to answer pretty much any question you have.

Is it a 283 or 327?

I've noticed on cars of this vintage that wheel colour is dependent on wheel cover treatment ordered. If a car had standard hub caps the wheels were body colour, if wheel discs they were black, that's my observation after years of crawling around salvage yards and shops but can't say that's 100% the way they were manufactured.

Correct, black wheels were only used on cars with full wheel covers, or wheel discs as they were called back then, with one exception. All others where body color.

Thanks

Randy

Welcome from Canada's east coast. You might want to get the GM documents for your car.

I think it has been painted at some point, kind of flat butternut yellow at this point, I don't even plan to polish it, I will leave it as is until it gets painted down the road.

I have a set of the original PO1 option hub caps, I think I will go black on the rims, The only body coloured wheels that I see in pictures are with the dog dish caps.

Yes you'd be right in painting them black, P01 is the wheel disc option not a hub cap. Hub caps are commonly referred to as "dog dish". Its all in the terms one used, Rick and I said the same thing above, only "dog dish" cars got body colour, wheel disc cars got black.

Hey there!

My Beaumont was originally pretty close to yours.

Mine was butter nut (Love that name) biggrin  But with a black vinyl top.

Cheers From Lethbridge Alberta!

They may be..  But I think they are the Simpson Sears copies.. Note the casting  between the spokes against the bell..

Just don't damage those side moldings! It has happened way too many times in the past. When these cars get repainted, a molding get damaged and the body shop just chucks them. I am impressed when I see them still attached to the car. They will never reproduce thos things.
