Starting over, My 67 Beaumont build thread.

This is pretty well the current state of my car.

It looks pretty decent and has a 454 / T400.

It drives pretty good but there's always room for improvement.

When I bought it, (16 or so years ago) It was pretty well a gutted race car.  It was red, Hard plastic racing bucket seats in the front and no back seat.

A big motor and stock suspention. No front sway bar and manual drum brakes. (It drove like a sail boat)

I've made tons of upgrades over the years and I've spun every bolt on the car at some point or another.

But now I'm finally at the point in my life where I have a nice heated shop in my back yard, money and the motivation to do it all over.

It's getting a resto mod do over with a touch of pro touring.

Lots of parts in my garage, Lots on order and I'm diving in head first. biggrin

It's getting stripped, a new frame, a bunch of new sheet metal and piles of goodies.

Starting with the frame... The original frame I patched together years ago.  a la Franken frame.

I have a 64 Chevelle frame that's in very good shape to start with.

It's getting an HPI customs frame stiffening kit along with a bunch more boxing and bracing.

When i'm done with this car it will be up to the task of Drag racing, Auto cross and Full track road course racing.

Here's my current frame on the rottiserie that I just bought from Poncho member Elroy.( Thanks again Elroy!)

Here's what it will look like with the HPI kit installed... (Not my frame, Just an example.

and getting some stuff like this.

UMI brace between the rear shocks.

Suspention and brakes.

I have the Hochkiss TVS system in my car right now and it works great. Adding some extra goodies to make it even better though.

Hotchkiss tvs

I bought UMI performance control arms (adjustable and shorter uppers to fix the camber curve.)

BIG brakes coming from Kore3 for the front. Corvette C6 stuff (For the rear it will either be LS 2002 Camaro stuff )

It will be getting 17 inch wheels... Not sure what yet though. Lots of options to consider. Probably 9-10 inch wide.

Nitto or BFG tires

Cool,  i did notice that you say a 1964 chevelle frame.   Just letting you know that not all 1964 chevelle frames have the notch for the BigBlock starter clearance.  I dont know if that will affect anything?  I personally have not had any experience with this, but i have heard of it.

Good luck with the project, should be interesting.

Hmmm, Interesting. I've never heard of that. I'll climb under my car tonight and compare.

The starter I'm using will be tiny compared to a stock BBC starter though.

Although I haven't completely rulled out swapping in an LSX with twin turbos. confuse

The interior is getting some love... New seats, headliner and sun visors for sure anyway.

My current seat options have been narrowed down to TMI , Procar Elites or Rally's. (Currently leaning towards the Procar Elites but Those big Gromets in the TMI seats just look too cool.)

Procar elites

TMI fancy seats

Procar Rally's (A bit more classic looking)

The exterior is getting a complete make over.

New colors.... In the Gray / Charcoal / Black family...  Not sure what yet though.

I'm seriously considering painting all the chrome stuff. (I already have doubles and some triples of all the Beaumont only stuff)

Something like this maybe...

Looks like a cool project. Love the pro touring idea. Just a warning about the 64 frame, the very rear section where the bumper attaches may be shaped different than 67 and the rear spring pockets may be different. I had to use the 66 springs.

Thanks!

Yeah , I knew about the springs....  I've never heard about the rear bumper area though.

One more thing to check tonight.

Enjoy the project.......will be watching, can't go wrong with other HPI goodies if you do an LS swap.

Assume you have discussed this with them., custom billet mounts, brackets etc

I'm still thinking over the LS swap. I love my BBC and might just throw Efi on it.

I've been thinking about it. My car already has mini tubs but just right up to the frame.

I was thinking about doing the ABC Performance kit on it but haven't commited to it.

I can already fit a pretty big tire back there. It's been a while since i've measured though.

Looking at this EFI set up for my old 454.

It's getting pretty good reviews from what I see and is way cheaper then most of it's competition...

$1800 for these.... Yikes!

Looking forward to the progress, I have an HPI kit sitting on the floor of my garage and it will be going into my 66 SD soon, frame up and resto mod pro tour too, stock sucks.
