Hubcap instead of rally wheel

I don't think I'd go with the look permanently, though they fit nicely over the center caps still in place!  Grabbed this set of pristine NOS hubcaps, tried them on for size.

They actually look cool with the redlines.

I like that everything is black and red - the car is black, the emblems are all red, the pinstripe on the tires is red, and the caliper you can't see is red!  Even the PMD logo for the hubcaps is red.

Why not run both sets?   not hard to unbolt and bolt

The red lines are very subtle and fit in with the concentric circles in the caps.

When built 95% of these cars had these, now 95% probably have rally wheels! That's why I loved the blue Laurentian that's on the other thread, it's restored to "as in the day" status. I guess as long as we've got both represented here, it's all good.

My 69 Parisienne was ordered "de-optioned" for a lottery draw

Dog dish as the original caps and I assume black wall tires,

Period trim rings add something,

I went with 14x7 Rally II wheels painted a high gloss GM Grey,

November 23 14 121a.jpg

In the future I plan to go with the original dog dish caps with original factory red rims, repainted.

Imagine this wheel with those beautiful Red Lines.

As you already know, go with what you like and you will do just fine !

I had a green Parisienne that had the chrome strip along the bottom between the doors just like the red convertible above; my Laurentian did not have it.

When did cars received that piece? All Parisiennes except the 2+2? No chrome piece on the 2+2? What about the Grande Parisienne, wasn't it a more elaborate piece on it?

Anyone who knows, please fill me in!

I think the chrome strip was only on Parisienne.

Found this pic,

pontiac_laurentian_sport_coupe_brown_1969.jpg

The Grande Parisienne had a cast alloy strip that was the same design as the Bonneville,

My 69 Grande from an 1984 pictures,

my 1969 Grande.jpg

Now those are 14x10 Cragars with the badly pitted centres painted black biggrin

My Grande also had screw on stainless steel trim on the door lip and on the trunk lid and extra trim around the taillights.

My Laurentian had door edge guards, so those were available serparately. The trunk trim was GP only.

BTW, if you guys call the Grande Parisienne a GP, what do you call the Grand Prix?

"what do you call the Grand Prix? "

American biggrin,

I think the term is used loosely because of the oversized G and P used on the cars.

But please correct me folks !

I have always referred to these cars as "GRANDE"

(It's a 67 Grande)

Oddly I say the GP as the "Grand Parisienne" like the French whereas my Sierra Grande I call a "Sierra Grand-ay" like the Spanish. Same word, same company.
