Never heard of a tach called a 1/2 sweep but I found one I actually have one but its a new Anniversaty Autometer and expensive

You're right, I took them on fire trucks of the sixties and seventies. All gasoline engines.
Two of them side by side with a lot of other guages on water pump trucks (on the exterior board).
