1960 Pontiac 261 ignition parts.

Anyone have part numbers or an equivalent vehicle I can use to order cap, rotor and points? I tried the RockAuto route by using a chev 235 and the points are a no go. Couldn't source a cap but the rotor did fit.

1960 Laurentian 261 engine

Would love numbers for the following.

Cap

Rotor

Points

Thanks!

Rock Auto has all that stuff.

Pontiac>>1960>>Laurentian>>261L6>>Ignition

Points, AC Delco U110
Rotor, Standard DR308

Cap isn't listed for the 261, but a 235 cap is same...

Standard 428

Oh, and condenser even though you didn't list it.

AC Delco C431

You can also likely get the Pertronics unit, they work great and are an easy install.

Available at Auto Value in Alberta:

Points    Blue Streak DR-2227P

Rotor     Blue Streak DR-308

Cap       Blue Streak DR-428

Condensor   Blue Streak DR-60

I can't remember where you are, but the Auto Value store in Red Deer has all but the distributor cap, but they can easily bring that in from Calgary.   Calgary has all the items.

I second the motion for the PERTRONIX electronic conversion. It is the one best thing you could ever do for your trusty 261. No more useless points and condenser to fail and no more setting the dwell ever again. Far far far superior to the prehistoric points system. Cheers. George

Thanks to everyone for the info! I'll look into the conversion for sure.
