By virtue of the front bumper, shoulder belts and the colour I would say that it indeed is a 1974 model. It appears to be a base coupe with a 6. It looks like the sort of car you would have found in the wreckers 25 or 30 years ago. If there isn't a problem with the ownership then it might even make a nice car to rescue and do whatever to.

My older brother had a red one with a black vinyl top.
I Remember borrowing it when i was 16 and doing my first burnout, apparently I spit up a rock and hit this big guys car. He chased me down and tore a strip off me, scared the heck out me, I'll never forget it.
Mate of mine in new zealand has a ventura hatchback (or liftback or sportsback. not sure on canadian term..) with a 396 fatty in the front. Just in the process of fitting a twin throttle body Fitech fuel injection setup.

In Canada we call them hatchbacks, I have not heard the term "fatty" before, is that New Zealander for a big block engine?
Thats what we call them in australia and the kiwis do as well.

A "fatty" in North America means a big joint.

If the Ventura were a hatchback it would actually have a nameplate visible on the C-pillar that said "hatchback".
As far as Australian lingo, that stuff can make you crazy. Some of my favorite Australian terms are Gurgler which of course means "toilet"; and Trouble and Strife which naturally means "wife".
Here in what was once known as The Dominion of Canada, we speak the Queen's English. Z is pronounced "Zed", and color is spelled "colour". We never refer to car parts as boots or bonnets though, and we never call those round black things "Tyres". That is just crazy talk

Yep! When things turn to s**t they go down the gurgler! Trouble and strife is the best term....but sometimes the tin lids need a good kick up the cackapuka into the bargain! They'd have a sore clacker for a week....
nize to see correct pronunciation used! All this tyre talk just tires me out....
and a centre dome is a bonnet Or hood?

Yes, most folk here in PEI call "hoods" " engine bonnets". They all call hangar bearings "steady bearings".
I've never heard the term hangar bearing. We call them steady bearings or center support bearings here in Alberta. And the term battleship - very rarely hear that one anymore. The one that gets my goat is "pumpkin". Why would you call a diff a pumpkin and where did that originate?
Boy did this post ever get off topic. There used to be one of those Ven-tour-ah's parked on the street a few blocks from my place. Shiny paint but with one rust hole in the LF fender you could stick your fist through

Do you use a lot of rhyming slang in Australia? I know that the limeys do. Put that in your sky rocket ...
