1-5-16 = 1st shift, May 16 (body in the Fisher body bank)
806860 = Data Processing reference????
Paint K = Artesian Turquoise
Trim 011 = ??? What I see as possibilities are 717 (Light Fawn) or 780 (Turquoise)
M35 = Powerglide (which on a V8 Acadian or Canadian V8 Chevy II for 1966 can only mean 283 2-barrel)
VIN Breakdown:
6 = 1966,
71637 = Acadian Canso sport coupe V8
006762 = Actual Unit #
Note: Being a Canadian Acadian in 1966 it could only have come from Oshawa, so Plant isn't identified that year

I believe that Flint only produced full-sized passenger cars (Biscayne-Caprice) during the time that the above engines were produced. I could be wrong but that is the best I can come up with for now. So I would guess that it is an L30 327. Block casting numbers could help narrow it down, plus the PCV vent location can offer another clue.

The interior code has me stumped. The 1966 Acadian brochure lists the only colour choices for the Canso series as Fawn, Blue or Red.
There is no possibility of Turquoise. Ahem...
(I should mention that Turquoise was not offered in 1966 Beaumont Sport Deluxe or Malibu SS and yet I have seen both an original 66 Sport Deluxe 735-series coupe and a 66 Malibu SS 136-series coupe with Turquoise from the factory).

I love looking at these 283, 327 engines because I worked at the V-8 engine plant in Flint, MI from 1964 to end of 1965. I was in the Marine Corp from Dec 1965 to Dec 1967. I went back to work at V-8 engine from Dec 1967 to Jan 1969. During these times, I was an hourly employee and worked inspecting main bearing caps and cam bearing tolerances. I also worked later installing soft plugs, cams and then distributors on the assembly line.
I do believe this is a 66-67 pass 327ci, 275hp 4 bolt mains. I think the car was originally a 283ci and it was a PG. I found kick panels and an old door panel in the trunk in fawn. I was surprised by the paint code as the last registration, 2000 shows a color of red.
I remember some of the paint codes from the mid 60's, such as green paint on any engine parts such as end of cam, rods or side of block indicates a 283 V-8. Of course the pink paint is high performance 327 parts. I'm not positive but it seems that red was a standard 327ci V-8. I know we also used yellow and blue paint but not sure of the application.
That is what my wife keeps saying. It's one of those bucket list things. First car I restored was a 69 Nova SS and I painted it Cranberry red because I didn't like Garnet red. Then I had black cars and orange and white. It is on to something different. My Gasser is in primer so I have that one covered also.
