Well congrats there Mr. Stevenson. That looks like a REAL gem. It will be nice to hear of you now being able to take a drive with one of your old cars. Enjoy.
Love to see these survivors, and especially a 3 on the tree! Haven't driven one of those since the early 80's. I thought we only had auto spy photographers around here in Detroit. Enjoy Carl!
Cool car ... congrats! Nice colour combo ... close to mine.

Carl, that is one very cool car. I really, really like the cowl tag with body paint all around and it appears there was a sticker of some sort used to block paint from the tag.
I found a 78 Nova in 1990 that was much the same with 305, 4 spd, standard rear. My solution to the original equipment dilemma was a aluminum intake with 4 bbl and L-79 cam. Cam company suggested changing the exhaust rockers to 1.5 and dual exhause. That did wake up the little V-8 without any permanent modifications. Biggest change in the way of performance was finding a wrecked 78 Z-28. Rearends were the same but the Z came with 3:42 posi. That little modification allowed me to get out of 1st and 2nd gear in City driving.
I agree with the mods you have in mind but I would never change out that original 283 unless it had a hole in the side. Changing the R&P will accomplish so much in the way of driveability.
I do my own tires here at the dealership. I was going to flip them but I ordered new ones, one size bigger because these just look a bit too small. I went with 225-70-14 for the new ones. Just no time to swap them onto the car for a while, and besides, it's been raining quite a bit. This car is a sissy, it won't be seeing much wet weather in my ownership!

Very nice Carl. I agree, NO PAINT work! It really looks so Canadian to me, Specifically East Coast type of car from that era. All except for the lack of rust!!

Now that I look closely, I agree a bit bigger tire will look better. (I have 255's and 205's on my 56, but that's a hot rod with a noticeable rake, not a great survivor driver like yours, so the mid-point should be perfect). What brand did you choose?
Rain is bad. Snow is worse. Down here, hot summer sun is almost as bad.

Whatever you decide to do with the car.....be certain to save every bolt - if you should decide to put in a 427 down the road. So many of these great survivors get into the wrong hands.....I believe she is safe with you. Enjoy her

I bought Hankooks. My choices in that size were BFG Radial T/A, Hankook or Coopers. I know I'll step on lots of toes by saying this but I've never been a big fan of the Radial T/A. I know it's been considered the "classic musclecar tire" forever but I don't like the tread style at all. The Cooper tread pattern is not appealing to me at all, and I've bought Hankooks for a couple of vehicles in the last few years and been real happy with them.

Even with my affection for the 65's, that is an absolutely gorgeous example of the Pontiac B body. Capturing the reflection of the clouds in the paint would indicate years of slumber in all the right ways and is very cool. Congrats on such a stellar car.
I suppose we will find you hanging out at 2doorpost site now?
Pretty much impossible to find a survivor like this one Carl, you are a lucky man. I wouldn't paint it either, its only original once. If you drop a 427 in there, make sure you put 283 valve cover stickers on it.
