Brake line with single flare??

I removed the 6 inch brake line (approximately) That goes from the flex line to the aluminum block on the drivers side. The end that screws into the aluminum block was a bigger nut And it had a single flare. Is this right ??? Or did someone in my cars past make a line wrong??

Wrong is an understatement, and I'm surprised it didn't leak like crazy. He got lucky I guess.
