1967 Acadian Invader, 38000 Miles, 2 door post, black rubber mat, no carpet, only 625 built, have GM documentation, 6 Cylinder automatic, power steering, power brakes, car is in Ontario, will take $10500. I have the original wheels & wheel discs, there is a rust hole in the trunk & a couple under the seats, car was painted once years ago, 705-876-3396
Nice looking car - I suspect there'd be more rust hiding, but it sure looks straight & clean.
How much power can you make with a six? I don't recall seeing any numbers. What's a realistic redline for one that's been balanced and set up for high RPM's?
I'm thinking you should be able to get close to 300 HP, but that's just a guess.
I'm thinking that six is the standard 194. If you want to make power you should try to find a 230 or 250 and use a 250 crank. The 194 made 120 gross and 95 net horsepower, and 177 gross or 155 net lbs./ft. A stock 1967 250 made 155 gross or 125 net horses and made 235 gross or 220 net lbs./ft. of torque; add headers or at least a pair of 3-into-1 manifolds, then maybe a small 2-barrel. You could make 300 horses or more with a selective build, but it wouldn't be as economical as just swapping in a V8. Still a stock 250 would look like it belongs there under the hood and it would also give decent performance in a lightweight Acadian. Don't get too hung up on horsepower numbers, the high torque at low RPM would result in an effortless car to drive in traffic. Heck, that 194 is probably good for about 35 Imperial MPG on the highway.
That car really doesn't need power steering or power brakes; it must have been an "old lady" car.
