There is a real nice 1987 SS in Vernon light grey in colour with the grey interior, bucket seat car no console around 31,000 kms I believe. It belongs to an old friend of mine, can ask him if he wants to sell. Let me know.

I believe the gunmetal blue ones had a blue interior as well.

I don't know your budget Brian but this seems like a good buy- an Aerocoupe with 16000 km and grey interior. You'd have to come east to get it though

That one is about as good as it gets.

15,000 I would say miles, looks like a US speedo, don't think Aerocoupes were officially sold in Canada.

What would the HP rating be on a 305 HO engine?

For 1983 it was 175hp, from 84-88 it was 180hp. Certainly better than the Pontiac 2+2, which had the base 165hp.

The Pontiac Aerocoupe had less horsepower than the Monte Carlo ss   but more low end torque. The two engines are basically the same with small cumbustion chamber heads and a 1.84 intake valve. The camshafts have different profiles with the Pontiac having less horsepower but more torque throughtout the rpm range. Both are unique cars but the Pontiac is much rarer.

I'll take Carl's cue, ya I owned one, I'd say its the best performance car I owned, until I bought my Corvette. The car was executed so well by Chevrolet, and while often maligned the 305 in this car was not your standard sedan engine like in the Grand Prix 2+2. The L69 is regarded as one of the top ten performance small blocks by Hot Rod's Small Block Hall of Fame. In my case the car was ordered in August 1985 and arrived in November 1985, #41 down the line in Arlington TX. The day I picked it up at Hogan Chev Olds it literally drew a crowd at the dealership since I was told that GM had allotted Canadian dealers only 2 cars per year and '86 had a few nice upgrades from the 85. I even ordered the car without knowing the price which turned out to be $15,700. The next summer of 1986 we took it on a 2 week road trip throughout Ontario, a ride on the MS Chi-Ceemaun to Manitoulin Island and many spots in the near North. It was our last rip without children as daughter #1 was conceived on Manitoulin Island according to my wife. Once child #3 was on the way the Monte SS succumbed on trade in to a Bonneville.  I only have one digitized photo of a photo of it, it looks like its ready to take off!

I was going to say blue - but I had no idea that those were only 83-84 cars.

I always liked the Monte Carlo SS - wait, let's be quite clear, the rear wheel drive Monte Carlo SS's;
Unfortunately, my like for them has been somewhat soured as I have met more than my share of rude mullet adorning Monte Carlo SS owners...
And then there's the problem of no available manual transmission.

My mom's car for most of growing up (1981-1994) was a 1981 Blue on blue Monte Carlo;
My second car was a white on Burgundy cloth Monte Carlo;
I have an itch to own another one at some point - I have a Monte Carlo SS rear spoiler, and a set of full gauges for a Monte Carlo/Malibu in my garage, just waiting to be used...
I do though prefer 1980's, I like hte quad headlights, but also prefer the cars with actual flowing body lines...

Really? I looked across Canada and all the nice ones were in that range. Here's valuation (in USD) according to Hagerty:

CURRENT & HISTORICAL VALUES

View current vehicle values and see how they’ve changed over time in a 3-year, 5-year and to-date intervals. Compare these values to other vehicles and benchmark financial indices.

Current Values

  • #1 Concours$26,000
  • #2 Excellent$17,500
  • #3 Good $11,600
  • #4 Fair $800
