Gas pedal spring???

I have a 1966 Beaumont, I was wondering if there was ever a spring attached to the accelerator pedal to keep it depressed. Right now the only thing keeping it depressed is the throttle linkage on the carburetor, somehow I don't think that's how it works.

Accelerator pedal is extremely sensitive and sometimes sends me flying.

Anyone know?

There should be a return spring hooked to the carb. On the same link as the throttle linkage. And I'm pretty sure you don't mean depressed. That would be full throttle.

Doesn't the spring on some of these go to the oil filler tube?

Well the piston return spring sure does. biggrin Sorry couldn't help myself. Actually I haven't seen it but anything's possible. Mine goes back to the plug wire bracket. But it's 68 B body.

Q jets pretty much started the rearward return springs in 1966.

Earlier Engines went forward as well as some later 2 bbls.

Thanks
Randy

I would like to increase the resistance at my foot lol. Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way to make the spring more stronger?

I have an edelbrock performer carb.

Thanks!

Factory carbs used two springs as below.

Best to post pictures of your setup for accurate advice.

Thanks
