66 Beaumont head liner question

I ordered an interior kit for the 66 Beaumont and they asked me if the car was early or late model cause the head liner and sail panel covers were different for the 66 Chevelle . Does anyone know if this was true for the Beaumont too? Do we know what time of year they switched over?

I don't know the time they switched over. Rather than attempt to explain something I really don't know, let me direct you to an older thread at Team Chevelle that should help you a great deal.

It seems like the determining factor is whether you have a tack strip for the headliner (indicating the 2nd or later design shared with the 67s).

EDIT: I posted the wrong link, but the one above is good anyway. Here is the real link: http://www.chevelles.com/forums/26-interiors/370676-anyone-have-pic-early-66-sailpanel-installed-w-plastic-bottom.html

in 30 years of selling the 66 GM 'A' body headliners, the 'narrow'  sail panels we maybe ran across  3 or 4. and 2 of those were GTO's (all 66 /67 GM A bodies used the same headliner) A pretty rare bird
