Frame rot!

Hey all . It's been a whole sense I posted on here. I'm usually around lurking around . I decided it was time to spend some money on the Beaumont. This year my plans are . All new bushings and new rear links. I decided I would separate the body from the frame. Got all that done and found a bit or rot. Around the body mounts is no issue to me to fix myself in confidence. I do have a LHS rear mount and a very soft spot in the frame that is cracked. What are your thoughts? Cut it out and replace? Or clean it up and plate over it all . I'm on mobile so the next question is how do I post pictures easy from my phone? Thanks all!

Cut it out and replace....Cant stop rust once it starts. If you plate over its just a bandaid and you will be cutting it all out at a future date.

I understand the point being made about replacing the frame but Dre lives in the Annapolis Valley where apples grow on trees not frames. I know of a few but they are in the 2k to $2500 range.

I know this sounds over the top,  but if you can have some of the trouble areas sonic tested for metal thickness .. that will be the deciding factor if this is worth fixing or not .

most likely not an easy frame to find in your area.. be worth the few bucks to do some NDT !

I say sandblast the frame and see what else you find.   That's presuming you have a local place to sandblast it, and a way to get it there.

I sandblasted one here in Calgary a couple years ago and it only cost me about $100.   Blow the sand out of the boxed areas, then rattle can primer it right away.  Krylon works very well (ideally black primer if you can find it), and believe it or not it'll only take about 4 cans to give it a couple coats.

And Eastwood makes an inner frame coating that gets everything sealed up.

I know the feeling, by living on PEI, (probably more so) but I managed to get (2) whole '64 Parisiennes, both with good frames for under $2500.00 on the island. If you are patient and vigilant enough they are out there.
