What's in it now?? 6 cyl. or V8 If V8 should drop in other than transmission mount fabrication. If 6 you'll' need a set of V8 frame mounts, exhaust set up etc. Pretty easy swap!!! 700Rwill need to be set up, + d/shaft may need to be shortened too!!!

Sorry guys I have it setup to tell me I received a comment but it's not working???? Anyways it was a 261I have the engine mounts from the 355 I got and will be getting the 700r tranny shortly
I went from a 283/cast iron Powerglide to a 350/T250 in my 62 so I didnt need to change the engine mounts. If I remember correctly, the Powerglide mount lined up too, but had to shorten the driveshaft a bit.
My understanding is that the 700R trans is longer and bigger than a T350, so you will have to shorten the driveshaft even more and it may interfere with the "X" frame or maybe the trans tunnel. A 200 series overdrive trans is the same size as a T350.....Might want to go with one of those.
If you go to ChevyTalk, at the top of the 59-60 or 61-64 forum it lists the length of various transmissions and driveshafts too (maybe) for x frame cars. 59-64 are all the same dimension frame wise. Some years have different mounts etc but the dimensions are the same.
