The GM documents would list disc brakes if it came with them.

When you say your build sheet, do you mean the one out of the car (under the dash, inside the seats, under the rug etc.) or the GM sheet you get from GM Vintage when you get your documents?

If I remember correctly, only 40 Beaumont Sport Deluxe in 1967's, had the factory 4 piston calipers / technology intro. year for GM.
- along with a specific power brake booster & proportional valve
- calipers same or similar, as used in the '67 Corvette's / however the "A" body brake rotor-spindle design differed
In use - the calipers were plagued with brake fluid leaks / so common now to have them re-sleeved in stainless steel.

Likely added sometime after the car was ordered, by the dealer to help it sell or a previous owner. Also, doesn't look like an original booster.

I believe the Options Code for Power Disk brakes was J52. This should be on the build sheet (if you've found it - I found mine in the springs under the rear seat bottom - I photocopied it, stuck it in an envelope and put it back there). It might be on the cowl tag, but I suspect not. It would be on the GM Canada documentation if it left the factory with Power Disk Brakes.
I'm not sure what "Power Vacuum Control" means specifically. I would assume it means Power Brakes, which would be code J50. I've never seen "Power Vacuum Control" listed in any GM documentation. Could this be some other vacuum powered accessory? Power (vacuum) trunk release?

The master cylinder on Carl's car might be correct for a power disk brakes (two hold down brackets - one for each reservoir, hinged on the sides). I believe the drum brake master cylinder had a single wire hold down, hinged at the front and back. At least that's what my Parts Book shows. It seems odd that the GM documentation doesn't even show J50, power brakes. I wonder if it was originally manual drums and someone converted to power disks after it left the factory?

Looks like the correct 67 disc brake master to me.

So the red convertible is documented as no power brakes, but had power drums at some point of its life...using a disc brake master cylinder (not the drum brake m/c)...I wonder which proportioning valve was used!? What is the booster off of?

My '67 SD also had the rear factory notch on its drivers side chrome valve cover / photos attached.

- these same 396 engines, also went into the uni-body GM cars

- and the factory dent, allows the brake booster outside diameter to clear the rear valve cover / on slightly narrower car frames

If Oshawa Assembly Plant sourced complete engines with the one notched VC, these big blocks could go in more vehicles.
