Daytime running lights??

I would like to add some to my 63 that I will wire into the key switch, instead of using my headlights or parking lights.

Any recommendations for a pair that I can install where they won't be visible when off but still give off a bright light? I'm thinking an LED.

Don

Don, i just turn on my regular lights every time i drive during the day. It is such a habit for me now. Why spend money on the gadget when you can just turn on your regular lights.

Back when I had my 70 Biscayne I found an inexpensive device that turned the headlights on automatically with the key and off about 30 seconds after the car was shut down. Worked great (other than people who would say "Hey, your lights are on" when I got out of the car.) Here in PEI it is the law that cars 25 years or older have the headlights on all the time. Whenever I get another old car I'll have to find (or build) a similar device.

If I had to install DRL's this is how I would do it. You only need three relays. You can do it with two but with three the lights are only on with the engine running.

I was looking for a recommendation on a simple DRL in LED that I can just wire into a keyed source. I figure LED's draw very little so no need to add anything complex like relays?

Something like this but not as ugly?

I have been selling these for years

Truck-Lite 97300

www.truck-lite.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay

or

Grote 44040

If you have a Heavy Truck dealer or Napa in your area, give them a try, they are inexpensive and work great.

I have them on my 64 cs. Put them on years ago, they come on with my ignition switch, placed beside my parking lights up front. LED type to run cool and most visibility.

9059.jpgIf you enlarge the shot you can see them behind the lower opening in the front bumper. I also have a lighted switch below the dash which shows them onBrian

"Cool" pic, that's the type I'm talking about. Is that 64 good in snow?
