Nice.....I read on another forum, or Facebook, or somewhere of another 73 SS wagon on Kijiji.....Said the std engine was a 350.....To me, an SS is a big block.....end of story
In 1973, the worst year ever for performance in Chevrolet, these were basically if I remember correctly, all sound and fury with the performance of 283, along with the gas mileage of a loaded log truck!
Did these ever come with the swivel buckets and console as the 2 door version had? Would be cool.
.Not sure the SS models had swing out buckets but, the Laguna S3 models did. My old buddy "The Wizard" had an S3 that he badged as an SS after he bought it. That's the only one I've ever seen.
In 1973 the Chevelle wagons were only offered with bench seats, even though there was an SS wagon that year. It wasn't until 1974 that Chevrolet offered swivel bucket seats in the Chevelle wagons (in both the base Malibu & Malibu Classic series). By then the SS was gone except for the El Camino & Nova. Swivel buckets were available in base Malibu coupes & wagons for 1974-75 only, while the Malibu Classic wagons offered them 1974-76.
I had known about the 1973 Chevelle SS wagons since the fall of 1972. Still as a car spotter since way back, the first actual in the flesh 1973 SS wagon I ever saw was in Atlanta back in 1984. It looked like the car in the eBay auction except it had a 350 & different wheels. The colour was even the same (Midnight Blue with silver striping).
Attached is a late summer 1972 GM photo of an early production 1973 Chevelle SS wagon.

Jeez, if I get a whiff of this I'll get a swelled head.
There has been another big block 73 Chevelle SS wagon for sale on the Team Chevelle classifieds for a good while now. I guess there is a limit as to what these cars bring (as G-3 aficionados already know)
