Cool and rare Canadian built Studebaker. Love it!

This rare Studebaker is 1 of 12 second series built in Ontario with 289 four barrel carb. Very low production with these option. Factory T10 four speed with dana 44 posi rear end. Factory dual exhaust, factory front disk brakes, heavy duty shocks from the factory. Originally sold in Seattle and imported to Vancouver in the late 70's where it sat in a warehouse and then became part of an estate. It has 78,000 original miles. Matching number 289 Stude engine ( stock came with solid lifters, forged crank, rods, etc) runs well, excellent compression. It has a new carb but still have the old carb. It has only gone 100 miles since the 70's. Original factory owners manual and original reg. Past B.C. inspection in July 2015. No rust. One repaint in the 70's midnight black paint.

I guess this is what you would call a barn find but it had been stored in a heated warehouse. The pictures are of the Studebaker in the warehouse. No agents. No low ballers. Serious inquires only. These are the only pictures there are. Thanks. $16500

Wow, ten thumbs up! I guess when the Indiana factory shut down, the supply of 289 Studebaker engines ended. Studebakers built in Hamilton went from 1948 through to the end. The last 2 model years used Chevy 194 & 230 sixes and a 283 V8. I remember the factory on Ferrie Street in Hamilton in which the company logo was still visible. It was only torn down in 2014 I think.

There is a brown 1964 Studebaker that runs at the Pure Stock drags that has astonished everyone. It is an R-3 or R-4 special hand-built 304 Studebaker engine and it runs extremely well while looking like a grocery getter.

Very rare car. Imagine 1964 and having front disc brakes! There was a 65 with a 283 4 speed in Timmins when I was a teenager and I used to pump gas for the owner. I got a couple of rides in it and was impressed. The owners name was Eddie Toal and he knew what he had a rare undesireable car at that time but he loved it and drove it hard and had lots of fun.

I am getting the Stude bug back; especially for cool 2 door sedans like this one AND it being a Hamilton built car makes my heart race. You'd never find another one like it. I wish there were interior photos.
Cam- the Stude you talk about is called "The Plain Brown Wrapper".

Ya, I know of this car, as well as The Plain Brown Wrapper. Cool cars. I like the early '50's "bullet nose" cars also.

I cannot stop looking at or thinking about this car, do not have a clue guys. Got to be a cool car, wonder how it would drive? I am thinking ten to twelve thousand. How far off am I, any thoughts or Studebaker guru out there? Thanks

You'd love it (and I'd be jealous!). These cars drive very well. Simple to work on, huge club following and still an abundance of NOS parts available. As you can see the build sheets are still available from the Studebaker Museum. Those 289's are stout motors. Forged cranks, high nickle content blocks, gear driven camshafts and an exhaust note that is very unique.

Having owned both the post and the hardtop body styles of these cars I can say the post is way more rigid and rattle free.

Great sized car to drive, easy to maintain with a large club following.

This particular car looks very nice. The listing is gone so I suspect the car is sold.
